My cake is going to cost over $800. Fortunately my grandparents are footing the bill.

His cake however only is going to cost $44. He says it isn’t fair but it will be a lot smaller than mine.

I’m wondering this too because my planner put $450 in our budget for that. I don’t think we’re actually doing a cake for him though. Probably some pecan pie bars or something.

My Grooms cake was $76 dollars and it will feed 60 people, which is fine because  we have enough cakes and desserts to fee 150 people and ther are 100 invited.

Our 2 cakes were $657.  His is $53 of that for a 1/4 sheet Xbox cake.  They will then add a fondant xbox controller for $40.

My FI’s was almost $500. It’s from our favorite and best bakery in Austin (Our humble opinion) and is a pretty intricate football themed cake and feeds 50. It was the only thing he wanted. Mine is free so it kinda balances out 😉

I was going to write the same post and found this, so figured I’d give it a BUMP!

Please post your groom’s cake or say what it is, as well as how much it is costing you, along with how many people it will feed. I am going to go to a bakery today to get some info and want to have some sort of idea so I’m not completely clueless.

    Thanks!

I ordered a dallas cowboys star cake for the groom as a surprise. It’s red velvet with cream cheese frosting. It’s $75. No idea how many it feeds (we have a cake for guests), but I was told they make a sheet cake and cut the star shape from the sheet cake.

Sorry if this sounds really stupid, but I have never heard of a Groom’s cake! Do people literally get two cakes, one for the bride and one for the groom? I’ve only ever heard of one wedding cake!

I was originally going to do a grooms cake but we are already having a wedding cake that feeds 130 people which is a bit over the number we need BUT fiance wants to make sure we have enough cake so I am not gonna argue with him. I am doing a Beer Groom’s Cake and will be leaving it where the guys are gonna be getting ready. So it will cost me a case of beer and ribbon.  It will look something like this:

@SLfairytale:  A groom’s cake is something some brides do as a surprise for their fiancé on their wedding day. It is usually MUCH smaller than the regular cake and will be something that reflects fiancé’s interests, hobbies, sports team, etc. I personally am getting a football helmet of my fiancé’s football team from college that he is a huge fan of, or a football with the team’s logo and colors on it. My fiancé has no idea and I will let the venue know to roll the cake out as we are cutting our cake to surprise him.

Other times, a groom’s cake may not be a surprise and instead it will be a cake that is on display next to the regular cake at the wedding. And at times the groom will design his cake how he wants.

@Soon_To_Be_Mrs_T:  $115 for that cake was not bad! I just came back from two bakeries today. One quoted me $175 for a helmet cake and minimum size must feed 25 people. Another place quoted me over $350! One of the places told me they would do a football one on a bed of green grass frosting for $75ish dollars, since it will not be as difficult to construct as a helmet. Dunno what I’m gonna do yet.
