Thats the general price. For my engagement pictures on a disc it cost $500 for only 81 images. I’m not sure what mine would charge for the disc of mine because its included in my package. But to give you all the rights and the disc of all your images, that seems fair. Remember by you paying $500 for a disc, they actually lose income. For instance say you only ordered 4×6 portraits from your photographer and they cost $10  each…you could only get 50 images. Generally you would order more portraits. I print my portraits at mpix and they cost 19 cents for a 4X6

@adnama:

I HIGHLY suggest choosing a photographer that gives you full rights to your images as part of their fee. Maybe it’s just me but having to pay for something like that (not counting duplicate dvds)is absurd. Do you mind sharing your budget?

@adnama:

Are you getting married in BC or somewhere else in Canada? Not sure what style you’re looking for but I LOVED working with our photographer and her destination fees (+ air,hotel,rental car, meals) were far less than local photogaphers.

Not sure if she’s available, or if she counts Canada as part of North America but it might be worth reaching out to her or looking outside your immediate location. 🙂

Did they give you any indication of aproximately how many images you’d get?

@adnama: $2000 is slightly tight depending on where you are located. I think it’s just so much money mainly because you are getting ALL the images. Edited or not, it’s a business and it’s their livelyhood. My photographer will only edit about 80 of ours and the other several hundred are unedited, but generally his discs cost $500. I don’t believe in buying a photo album from my photographer, but that’s just me. I would rather have no album from them and have full rights and a disc of all of the pictures and then just make a photobook with the images and you can choose the layout and everything.

I’d take a look stateside and see what you find (maybe washington state?) and price airline tickets at the same time. I booked Erin over a year in advance but that gave us plenty of time to monitor flights and hotels to score a good price.
