I am getting cake/cupcake quotes, and I am wondering how much you paid for yours?
I will put up a poll, but what your be really helpful is if you could reply with what your cake was like, and the cost.
We are being quoted $250 – $350 for an 8 inch cutting cake, with textured buttercream frosting, and 150 cupcakes with a swirl of icing in 3 different flavours (chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache, vanilla cupcake with vanilla buttercream, and a third flavour TBD), with delivery, and we are providing our own stand.

We had a very simple three tier cake (buttercream frosting) that fed around 80, plus a couple dozen cupcakes for the kids and I think it came in right around $400, with delivery.

We found a company, Cakes Confidential in nyc, that rents fake wedding cakes (weird idea but its a lot cheaper if you want a big impact cake). We’re renting a beautiful 4 tier, hand painted, fondant cake with lots of pink peonies for $300. There’s spot for real cake in the fake cake so we still can do the cake cutting ceremony. Then my aunt’s going to make some sheet cakes and frost them with matching buttercream so once the fake cake is back in the kitchen we’ll serve the sheet cake instead. Wish me luck:)

I was blown away when we started to research cakes! Most quotes we got were between $3-$7 per person for the size of the cake. We looked into cupcakes too thinking it’d be cheaper but ironically it’s more expensive because it’s a lot of detailed hand work.
Thank goodness our cake is included in our venue contract. I’d still like to be able to surprise Fiance with a groomscake though.

we are getting our cupcakes at a local grocery store (i had my baby shower cake from there and it was amazing!) our price is $6.99 per dozen so for 150 cupcakes it will be about $90. that is for buttercream in a simple swirl on top

Our cake is $5 per slice. It is funny because my Mama says that when she got married back in ’82 the cake was $.88 per slice.

I paid about $300 for it to feed 100 people. They should price it according to how many guests you have and any decorating extras.

Holy cakes, Batman!
I can’t believe cake costs that much!

I talked to a lady at work about wedding cakes (she used to have her own baking company where she would design lots of crazy cakes) and she said that on average a cake should cost about $4-$7 per person. She said if it costs less than $4 per person be wary because then most likely the cake mix is out of a box and not made from scratch.

$60 for 3 sheet cakes (fed 50 each)
$75 for a small tiered cake to cut (only fed 30)
The last one was SOOOOO good but we priced out a sheet cake for it and it was $120! A wedding cake would’ve been killer pricey

My cake is going to feed 175-200 people and is $540.

I forgot to add that my cake will feed 300 (not counting the top tier) and will be covered with founded and bling etc.
