Mine cost nothing, because I did it myself. I wanted to look like myself, and I don’t wear a ton of makeup anyway. I understand wanting to do something special, but honestly I have seen some photos here where the bride would have been much better off doing her daily routine or her ‘going out tonight’ routine. I never comment, but seriously, some look so harsh and overdone…

Oh wait, I did comment on one – I forgot which Bee it was – but she asked her MUA for ‘a better version of herself’ and looked so fresh and beautiful!

Makeup $40 including a mini trial (ex:no false lashes at trial.) I live in a very rural community though. It was well worth it to me to feel pampered and to have it done in a way I couldnt do. I probably would’ve had a hard time justifying it, if it was alot more.

I guess this is where living in a small Canadian town is a benefit… May Hair is $65 (including free trial) and My Make up is $60 ( which give you a trial for $30)… My Bridesmaids hair will be 50 and their make up is 40… 🙂

My makeup was $125, which included the trial. My hair was $125 on the day and another $125 on the trial. So $375 total. I shelled out crazy $$$$ but it was totally worth it – I could have never done it myself!

I paid $200 not including tip for hair and makeup for me, and she came to my house.  My mom and bridesmaids were all on their own – my mom went to her own stylist who she has been using for years and my bridemsaids also wanted to use their own stylists so I only had to pay for me.

I can comment from a MUAs perspective. I live in a state with very high taxes plus we pay self employment tax on top of that, pay for our own insurance, etc. On top of that, I use probably $20 in product for every face, travel expenses, etc. When I charge $100 for a face, I probably make $40 off of that. I don’t WANT to charge that much, but I have to make a living and make it worth the time. 🙂

My hair and makeup for the wedding day is going to be $245 for hair, airbrush makeup, and lashes. In total:

Engagement Session: $150

Bridal Portraits: $150

Wedding Day: $245 (includes the trial run)

Hair and Makeup artist came to me on all three occasions.

Bridesmaids makeup is $45-$90 depending on what is done (traditional or airbrush, fake lashes, etc.) and Bridesmaid Hair is $55-$75 (ranges from down to half-up to updo).

Even if you’re good at applying makeup (I love makeup and am pretty good at it, too) a good professional can make a really big difference especially when applying makeup for pictures which is different than for in-person, etc. A good makeup artist will make you look your best for both pictures and in real life. Also, I think pampering yourself a little bit on the wedding day is important, too, in my opinion. Having someone do your makeup just feels really nice and special.
