I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not I want to do my own makeup or get it done for our wedding in October. I love makeup and have everything I would need, just not sure if I want the added stress of having to do it myself the day of. With that being said, I started to get quotes just to get an idea of cost and I haven’t found anything less than $100 for makeup and $60 for hair. Is this a reasonable price (we live in the south if that makes a difference)? I really can’t decide if it’s worth it or not. Also, how do you find people to do makeup and hair? The few I found were on a whim on facebook. Thanks bees!

I paid $120 for hair and $75 for airbrush makeup (Iowa).
My first trial went horribly wrong so I found another salon, and looked at her portfolio of pics. I liked her work and the overall quality the stylists at the salon provide, so I had a second trial and then ended up picking that stylist.
Definitely get a trial!

My hair is $60 and I’m doing my own makeup, but it would have been $30 to get it done. I just don’t trust anyone else with my makeup lol

It’s totally based on where you live and when you have day of wedding stuff they’ll charge you based on how many people you have, how complicated it is and if you’re going to the salon or if they are coming to your venue. I live in Tallahassee (“the south”) and I think the price is fine.
I paid roughly $140 for an updo and wedding make-up which is a great deal in this town. Paid the same amount for my trial. For day of it was the same $140 for my bridesmaid to get a 1/2 up/down and full makeup. She charge my mom and grandma the same which I don’t think was right (she should have charge less for style hair that was left down) but regardless they looked beautiful. She came to our venue as well.
I ended up finding my girl on Wedding Wire and now we’re friends- she’s just the sweeetest. So poll your friends on who they like (unless your getting married somewhere other than where you live) and check out the website for other vendors! 🙂

I am in the Northeast. My trial hair was 72 and trial makeup was 72 including tip and tax on both. On the wedding day, my hair will be 95 including tip and tax. I decided to forgo the makeup because I didn’t feel like myself after they finished doing my makeup. I would definitely suggest doing a trial!

futuremrsr428 : I think that’s super reasonable. I paid $150 for hair, $125 for makeup but I’m in DC. I am pretty good at hair and makeup and use professional products but didn’t want the stress of doing it myself. Definitely spring for a trial even if you have to pay extra (I did). I just had mine and what I thought I wanted didn’t look good on me. I knew my stylist beforehand and know she does great work. I researched around to price compare and when I was doing that, I looked through portfolios to find people who did work similar to what I wanted and for those who had experience with my skin tone (I’m light olive and people usually try to either match me too warm or too dark). Good luck!

$65 for makeup and $35 for hair in Northern Wisconsin. I’m skipping the hair since I have a pixie cut that’s generally very easy to tame. 🙂

$375 hair and makeup for day of AND trial where I took my engagement photos after. This included putting in and styling with clip in extensions (that I bought) and airbrush both days.
I’m kinda clueless when it comes to either. If you’re pretty versed in either maybe just do 1 day of and hire for the other? Stylists are expensive where I am in Southern California but I also went mid-range. There were people asking for $450+ day of with $75 travel fee….

I think my hair was $125 and my makeup was $100, which was a good deal for where I live (Boston).

I paid $400/session for hair and airbrush makeup in Chicago. The makeup included lashes, but I chose to provide my own. The trials were separate, I think $200 each — I had two. Mine was apparently pricier than the norm, but I can’t get over how amazing of a job they did.

I’m in Pittsburgh. Paid $60 for hair, $70 for airbrush makeup with lashes. Best price I could find, and I was really happy with how both turned out.
