Hm, I would just let the professional handle it! I live in Los Angeles, and I paid $350 for wedding hair/makeup, $100 for the hair/makeup trial, $150 for engagement photoshoot hair/makeup and each bridesmaid hair/makeup was $140.
It was worth it in the end because I looked EXACTLY the way I wanted and considering how much you spend on photography/videography it was a “sure thing” that I looked nice.

- Wedding: September 2015 - Hotel Ballroom
I had my hair down in curls and full makeup. The salon threw in my lipstick and a press powder to touch up my face throughout the evening. I BELIEVE the cost was $160 (it was a package). I would still do it again if it cost twice as much. It’s your big day, you want to look flawless! Plus it was nice feeling like a princess 🙂

I’m in maryland. $100 for hair $175 for makeup but I also have to get extensions put in two days before for $200.

I paid $150 each, so $300 total. It was far more expensive than I expected and wanted to pay but I had limited choices due to the location of my wedding and since it was a holiday weekend (everyone was booked up for weddings!) This was in northern CA. I was very pleased with the stylists work and she did it all in 1.5 hours which was fantastic. I didn’t have a trial, but she included a 30 minute one in the price.

I paid around $250 for both. I’m having an intricate updo and airbrush make up done. I know I could have gone cheaper but I was beyond impressed with both. (Washington state)

I live in Ausralia, so my prices are in AUD$. I’m paying $120 for hair and $100 for makeup (including fake lashes). This cost also includes the fee for having the hairstylist and makeup artist come to my dad’s home. These prices are pretty standard where I live and were actually cheaper than some quotes I received.
My makeup artist was a referral. She’s my sister’s boyfriend’s cousin lol. I had a trial with her last month and was SOO happy with her (I’ve had a few bad experiences with makeup artists in the past). I’m planning to have her do my makeup for my hen’s night too. My hair stylist was also a referral – I knew a few girls who’ve used her in the past and she came with glowing reviews.

Including trials, mine will be $270 altogether for hair and makeup.

futuremrsr428 : My hair was $65, and my makeup was $60. Both traveled to my venue (morning ceremony, so they were both there around 6am), which added about $10 each in travel costs. I tipped them well, since they both did a PHENOMONAL job. I did a trial run for each, and paid $45 each for those. Looking back, it was completely worth it. The day was stress free, my makeup and hair was GORGEOUS and I FELT like the most beautiful bride in the world.
Not saying that you aren’t great at makeup or anything, but makeup artists know what will transfer to camera well. I wouldn’t want to look back at my pictures (that I paid so much money for) only to regret not going all out for one day of my life. 🙂

I’m a make up artist in the Denver area. Most make up artists I know, including myself, all charge about $100 for bridal makeup. I hate up dos so I don’t do wedding hair, just photo shoots but if you find someone who does both rather than seperate it is usually discounted.

futuremrsr428 : I paid $120 for my hair and makeup but the girl who did it is a friend of mine so she gave me a discount. I would recommend finding someone to do it if you can afford it in your budget. It’s some nice pampering time!

futuremrsr428 : i think the prices you mentioned are totallt fine and reasonable! I wouldnt worry about money! I’d rather worry about if someone else can do your make up the way you want it to look. I did my own hair and make up and am super happy with that! It was a bit stressful and we had to rush but I looked exacltly how I wanted to (very little make up)
