We get a disk with all the edited images from the wedding, we will only be getting the album done through our photographer and that is included in her package price, so I can’t offer any insight into the cost.  But we won’t be ordering any prints from her since we’ll have the rights to print them on our own.

If it’s just for your guestbook engagement album, I’d definately consider taking the edited images and having them printed in an album yourself.

@ritsi_bitsi: Didi you det the photos on a CD with usage rights? What kind of album do you want…coffee table book?, leather bound?… It all depends. I give my clients the option to use my professional lab and I guarentee those prints, however they have the option to use any lab they want. If you know a good lab you can print them yourself, if not then I would stick with your photographer. I think $500 is extremly high for an album! there are so many great online services. Here are a couple of my faves:

Mixibook is amazing for guestbooks…I made mine and had it shipped for $50.00. Backprint is a great online pro lab with inexpensive quality photos…and you deal with a real person!

We also will be getting cds with all of our pictures (engagement and wedding) with full rights and can either order an album from our photographer for about $400 each or make them ourselves.  I just used Shuttersfly to make Fiance an album for our -1 year anniversary (today!!!) and had so much fun that I’m excited to make all of our other albums.  I figure it’ll be cheaper and it’s something I’ll actually enjoy.  I figure a lot of the cost of the photographer to make them is their time.  I would recommend that you use your credit for your wedding pictures though.  Then you can make copies on another website if you like the way she did it and use the same pictures.  They do get expensive though!
