We lucked out and my aunt is doing ours for free. I do intend to donate something to her church though. Before I talked to my aunt, the officiant we were looking at was $125.

Mr TTR & I Eloped to a Destination Wedding in the Florida Keys (so Tourist Area – High Demand for Weddings – it was also over the Christmas Holidays etc)

And we believe we got a very fair deal for a Wedding Package, just under $ 500

For that we got… Our Wedding License (Florida cost is aprox $ 100) – Location Rental – The Officiant – Ceremony Performed (and a printed copy for us to keep) – My Bouquet & His Bout – and about a 1/2 Hour of Professional Photography (aprox 50 Photos, Edited and Copyrighted to us on a CD)

Before we ended up in Florida we were looking at Myrtle Beach.  Costs there were similar (or more… $ 1000 or more was not uncommon)

My best advice is find their websites… read what you are paying for… may Officiants package their services up with a bunch of extras… so no 2 people / companies will offer the same things.  See what is and isn’t included.  Look on-line for Photos of Weddings they’ve performed (especially so if Photos are included in the price) as well as Reviews / Recommendations etc.

    Hope this helps,

@LadyMoriarty This might be pushing it, but do you have a photographer or caterer? Sometimes these people might know names too…. Otherwise, try looking into helping someone get ordained online. That was our next choice. (It might depend on the laws for your state, though).

Officiants in our area range between $500-$600. The more popular they are the more they charge. We were very lucky in hiring an officiant that was just starting out so she only charged us $250. Our wedding will only be 7th wedding she’s done, I think that’s enough practice so i’m not worried about it. She’s also done numerous naming ceremonies also.

$300 because I wanted something more personal than a judge but more professional than a friend (I don’t know anyone who’s good with speaking in public).

@LadyMoriarty:  Well it’s obviously up to you. 🙂 The guy that we had do ours is a close, close friend. He’s the husband of one of my best friends. She’s like my other soul mate (apart from my DH), and so for us it felt right. 🙂 He did an amazing job too. Wrote the whole thing, which was really funny, and totally us. 🙂

I think $525 ($500 something at least, just can’t recall exactly) is what we are paying. I am happy with that price so far! I think she will do a fantastic job on the day of. I absolutely adore our celebrant.

@LadyMoriarty:  Are you close with your dad? I always think it’s sweet when you see the father officiating.

@LadyMoriarty:  My father is an ordained Presbyterian Pastor and he is marrying us.  We will probably buy him a nice thank you gift or dinner, so I voted $100-$200 although he is obviously not charging us.

@LadyMoriarty:  I live in Chicago and we’re paying 278.00 for our officiant. She is located out of the suburbs and we got charged a little for mileage into the city/parking. This price also includes our rehearsal. Fiance and I got a steal, because she’s fantastic and reasonably priced for the area.

$500 for a rabbi, in a big city. However, most of the reform rabbis in this area are $800+, so I feel like I got lucky

Look at that, I think I’m the winner! Our officiant costs $1500. Yes, that’s a lot. It’s a lot. Seriously a lot. But I think the ceremony is worth it. We hired a family therapist who has also created wedding ceremonies. Her wedding package includes therapy/pre-marital sessions, so it’s a worthy expense! Fiance and I have had a rough year (his Dad has ALS and is deteriorating and my family has been horrible during planning), so she has been one of the most important people during wedding planning. We also got a wonderful custom ceremony since she did get to spend so much time with us.

I think $300.  $50 was for the rehearsal, and I think another $50 was because our venue was a little out of the way.

The marriage license was an extra $100.

We got married in a fairly small rural area.

We are paying $450. We are not religious, so I just googled officiants in the area and found her. She is very nice and completely personalizes our ceremony for us (we have to fill out a questionnaire, lol!) which I really like. We contemplated writing our own vows, but that seemed like too much pressure! So instead we will have our ceremony personalized and have iet be special that way.
