A few hundred to me isn’t too much, even a bed in a bag at Kohl’s or Macy’s costs about that much for a king size bed.

I don’t think 200 is bad at all.  Nothing is better than climbing into really good sheets and blankets.  Darling Husband had cheap-o sheets when I met him, ugh, thank goodness he has seen the error of his ways.

I get most of my bedding at Tuesday Morning, great quality without the high price tag.  Have you looked there at all?

I think the comforter cover is worth it.  I buy the hotel collection or calvin klein ones on sale at Macys, so they are 130 to 180.  But its so soft and pretty that I think its worth it.  I dont think shams are worth it though so I never buy that.  Know anyone handy with a sewing machine?  Just buy a flat sheet and sew some shams up for that much with left over to use as trim or something for matching curtains or to make the bedskirt.

I think a few hundred dollars isn’t bad. I’m currently looking for bedding but I can’t really find anything I like 🙁

The cost sounds about right to me. I bought my duvet cover from west elm and I love it. We never bother with the shams personally.

That isn’t bad. I make quilts for our bed and just the material runs me that much, let alone the time it takes. I am currently working on a cathedral quilt. Fabric for this one was cheaper $130 using my joann’s coupons but it is much more labor intensive. I will probably have 100 hours in before I am done. I am a sucker for pretty things though!

@MASPA:  Thanks for the tip! I will look there! I am really trying to hold off to see if SO proposes soon because then I will just register for it.

I don’t think that’s too bad.  We registered for our bedding at Crate and Barrel.

For our duvet cover it is $219 and then the king size shams are $44.95 each.  A little expensive, but very worth it, IMO.

If it’s a king size, I don’t think that’s bad at all.  We got ours from West Elm and it was around $450 (for the duvet, a light quilt, and 4 shams).

$300ish I think? For a comforter, 2 shams, 3 decorative pillows. It was Daisy Fuentes for Kohls… they still sell it (4 years later) and it’s still the same price in store. Don’t even get me started on my amazing sheets… they cost as much as the comforter. I’m a sheet snob. But worth every penny.
