How much did you spend on photography for your wedding? What was in your package – engagement, wedding and videography? How many hours did you have your photographer for? Did you get a discount for some particular reason? Any suggestions/advice you might have??
I live in Seattle, WA. I think the market here is pricier than most. Just trying to get a realistic sense of what this might cost…

I live in an expensive California city and I am paying 2500 for unlimited coverage on the day of, single shooter, no engagement shots. Just photos and I’ll end up having her there for about 8 hours. She does wedding photos part time with a regular full time job, hoping to transition to full time photography in the next few years so I feel I got a discount since she is newer.

Getting married in another pricey market (LA/OC). Our photographer alone is 3700. Her package includes a two-hour engagement shoot, and a total of 8 hours of coverage on the big day (she’ll also have a second shooter). She has been so wonderful to work with thus far, but still a bit more than we originally hoped to pay.
A friend recently got married in the same area and paid 3275 total for 8 hours of photography and videography and a 2 hour photo booth rental. When we first heard her quote, Fiance and I thought we were fools for overpaying (we originally considered using a college friend for photos, but our engagement shoot with him did not turn out well at all, so we think that experience scared us into paying for premium).
I think you’ll find a healthy range for vendors, depending on their experience and quality. While my friend got a smokin deal, she thought her photos just turned out okay. Her video was lovely though, and Fiance totally ended up booking that company for our videography!

We spent $10,237.
We got an engagement shoot, 2 photographers for 12 hours, 2 cinematographers for 12 hours, an editor for the same day edit, an online gallery with effects, high resolution disc, flushmount album, 2 parent albums, canvas gallery wrap, thank you postcards, cinematic 30 minute web trailer, 3 dvd’s and a blu ray disc.

Also in Seattle and we’ll be paying somewhere between 2500 and 3000 for full day coverage. Our photographer has another full-time job, so his prices are a bit lower compared to others since it’s not his bread and butter. The quality definitely doesn’t suffer though!
Our package also includes an engagement shoot, all high res images, and an online gallery for downloads.

We spent $1200 in a less expensive market, Georgia. We have 1 photographer, 8 hours, cloud back up, and 500 (I believe, could be more) digital prints. No album.

For our engagement shoot and day of (6 hours) with full rights to the photos, $1050. I’m in the Bay Area also so I got super lucky. My pictures turned out good (in my opinion) too.
ETA- I had one photographer with one person who helped him

bridetobe2018 : I’m also in the Seattle area and agree that the market price seems really high up here. Our package is $5,000 for two photographers (husband and wife), 8 hours of coverage, and an engagement shoot. It also includes all of the digital files and rights to print.

andielle : Glad to know I’m not crazy for thinking prices were high in Seattle. We started looking around May of last year and I had so much sticker shock.

We are paying $1500 (I’m in Canada so 1500 CAD is worth about… $7 USD, right ? 😜)
I think our market is pretty pricy (Vancouver BC) , a friend of mine was talking about what a good deal her $7,000 package was! Eek! Anyway most 6 hours plus engagement seemed to average 3-4K
Our package is for 6 hours with an assistant, 2 hour engagement shoot. Really love our photos so far you can look them up in the boards I think.

We’re paying $1950 for full day with two photographers (one main and one second shooter). This is in Toledo where prices range from $1k to $4k depending on the photographer. My sister did our engagement photos and my friend from college is doing our videography.

Paying $3500 for photographer alone in NC. 8 hours of coverage, 2 photographers, included 2 extra shoots which we used both for a longer engagement shoot. Videography was $3000 and that was on the lower end for the quality we wanted in the area. Same hours of coverage but 1 shooter.

I’m in Toronto so another pricey area.
I lucked out and found my photographer. Package was $3200 but I got her to give me for $2600. It includes 2 photographers, 8 hours, engagement shoot, guest book, and some other stuff. She is amazing. Our engagement photos were so incredible and I love her personality!

Southern California area, $3,300 for 2 hour engagement session and 8 hours day of with 2 shooters. 1100+ photos, online gallery for 1 year at sharing size and we got a USB with high res.
This was the cheapest and we were happy with their portfolio. We got $100 off since they had done my friend’s wedding 6 years earlier. Some of the local big names would have been closer to starting at $4k-$5k. My photographer lives more inland so her cost of living is cheaper but she travels within Southern California so that’s 40ish mile radius for her.
