At the risk of stating the obvious, did you look on this site for vendors ? I’m getting married in NYC which is also really expensive but thanks to WeddingBee I’ve found my dress, photographer, venue, and florist all from recommendations on this site! My dress was only $950!

We had a city hall ceremony in the States and a big wedding in Antalya. Ihad two different gowns, both from BHLDN. I wore Tinsley gown $260 for the city hall ceremony and Elise Gown &1750 for the wedding.IMG_1283[1]_MG_00681

mollymaxx4 :  I spent 1,800. I got it at a bridal salon. Honestly there is a difference between $700 dresses and 1,500 and up. I thought like you before I started looking but when I tried them on there is a difference. I get that you dont want to go crazy though.. I would get something at like 1,000 or up if you want something stunning. I think sometime you can get a deal and a sale for under but usually the cheaper ones are cheaply made. I would look around though. Maybe try Davids Bridal if you are on a budget or keep calling bridal salons and ask if they have sale section or if you can purcahse samples for cheaper because you are on a budget.

I got mine on a sample sale! It would have cost over $1,800.00 regularly and I got it for around $600.00! I wasn’t even going to go to the sample sale because I thought for sure I wouldn’t find anything, but I did! And I am so excited and kinda proud of myself for getting my dream dress for such a bargain!

mollymaxx4 I’m also in the Bay Area. I think the key is to look outside SF, and it can be a bit crazy expensive.

I visited a few shops throughout Oakland, including a bridal consignment shop. Eventually I ended up Janene’s Bridal Salon. They were so lovely and had beautiful gowns in my price range. I highly recommend them.

Also, there is a BHLDN shop that just opened in Walnut Creek and another in Palo Alto that should allow you to try on some of their stuff in person. This wasn’t open when I was looking, so I ended up buying a bunch of dresses from BHLDN and returning them—which ended up working out well, but was a bit nervewracking.

Good luck!

I got mine from bhldn on sale for 1100 dollars. The designer is Catherine Deane and she is pretty reasonable for wedding dresses, my dress is silk and well made. When I started looking I seriously thought I could find something nice that I liked for under 700, boy was I wrong. I love the dress I ended up getting!

I don’t have a dress yet, but my friend who is getting married next month bought a white prom dress on sale at DB for $100. She’s kinda the same, less fussy about dresses and didn’t want something too fancy. It’s perfect for her and that price is awesome.
