I wore Maggie Sottero “Priscilla” which was $1700 for my dress that included alterations.

$3000. My fiance and I are paying for everything ourselves except my dress and the welcome dinner. Had I been buying myself I probably would have gotten the $600 fourth favorite dress or taken a gamble on a dress I couldn’t try on. But my grandmother, who paid for my dress, kept saying she didn’t care what it cost, she wanted me to get what I wanted. So I tried on everything. And fell in love with a super expensive dress. I love it. I hosted a nice brunch for my grandma and aunt and stepmom on the day we went to pick it out. She was very excited to get to buy my dress. No regrets.

My budget was $350. I went to a bridal salon just to see what looked good on me so I could find a used dress on Craigslist…of course, I found the perfect gown. It’s a Sincerity and was part of a closeout sale on the samples of a few discontinued styles. Originally $1300, got it half price!!!

Just under $9,000 all up…. I do not regret it one bit.

I paid 682 for mine (from David’s bridal) including tax and the $79 bustier that was really neccessary with my dress and small chest. I am not doing alterations until January but when my dress came in, the alterations lady came over and said what she thought we needed to do. It already fits almost perfectly, but we have to have have it hemmed and I am having a bustle put in. I am not paying anything for accessories though because I had pearls already and a friend brough my the shoes I wanted as my birthday gift! I am hoping the alterations cost less than 300 so we can keep the entire attire expenses under $1,000.

Mine is just under 1100.    I’m having a professionnal seamstress/friend do my alterations for cheaper than the salon, and I’m wearing my mother’s veil, and I made my crinoline (it’s PURPLE!!!) so I’m not sure what the final price will be but that’s the max I was willing to spend on a dress.   Those ridiculously expensive ones just blow my mind.   I cannot fathom not being able to find something I loved just as much as a 5000$ dress in the below 1k range, nor would I ever allow myself to spend that much on a dress for a few hours even if I couldn’t find something I loved equally as much.  I’d settle for something I loved a tiny bit less if it meant I wasn’t spending 1/4 of my wedding budget on the dress, lol.

@DeeVine1217:  I agree with you. I bought my dress for $2000 but I honestly fell in love and couldn’t pass it up. The sample fit me like a glove, no alterations are needed other than another crinoline to raise the hem up 3 inches. And my mom and I are making my cathedral veil (which was a must have for me) so I’m saving $300 + on that. I figure with alterations, veil etc I would probably end up at $2000 anyway. I have been very frugal with other spendings and decided that while I can get a gorgeous dress cheaper than the one I picked there are other parts of the wedding less important to me that I can cut out.  But I do feel my dress is an expensive dress and other than the Bee I don’t say what it cost me. I’m almost afraid my friends will think bad of me for spending so much on it.
