hi bees! I’m planning on buying my wedding gown soon and I just want to know what you spent on your wedding dress and how important was it for you for the wedding? Also, how many dresses did you have for the big day? Pictures are welcome!!!

I’ll be shopping this month and hopefully decide on one by the end of next month, my wedding is this October. I’m setting a conservative budget of 15K, but am open to going up a little if I find “the” dress.

I spent $250 on Ebay for my dress, and it was still brand new with tags! Originally it’s $800 but I thought that was too much, so I scoured Ebay and found it there, brand new! I still think it looks amazing, and I saved SO much money!

My mom wanted to purchase my dress for me…it retails at $6K and was the only thing that wasn’t paid for by us. Were I to buy my own gown, I think I would’ve spent more.
I had three outfits…one for a Laotian ceremony, one for a tea ceremony and my white dress.

withluv : wow 15k is a really good budget. Good for you bee! How much more/less is that compared to the ring? I feel like I should spend less on the dress than how much the e ring is but I may be wrong here.. i don’t know if people spend more on the dress or the e ring! Lol! I hope you post some pictures when you start trying!

diamondbeez : I’m not sure the exact price of my ring, but I know it is around 25K. I’m contemplating not letting them know my exact budget because I’m a big believer that taste reflects more than the price of the item. We will see how the shopping goes. I think the ring should be more than your dress, the dress is only for one day. 🙂

I saw my dress RRP at something like $2800 when I fell in love with it but I couldn’t afford it. My budget was $500…. I was going simple. But completely randomly I found -the- dress on the last minute bride and it cost $1200. Right size, right colour. Seemed like a sign so I said “well the credit card IS for emergencies :p

My dress budget was $1000, but I ended up spending around $850. It still makes me sick that I spent so much on a dress I’ll wear once, but I love the dress and know I won’t regret it on the wedding day! It’s a Rebecca Ingram dress, which is a more affordable line under the Maggie & Sottero line. I can’t get a picture to upload, but it’s the Lauren style.

diamondbeez : I had 2 dresses – I spent $99 on my long dress from eBay. And then I spent maybe $10 for my second dress from a thrift store. Add in $20 bucks for alterations and another $20 or so for drycleaning and I got 2 dresses for under $200. LOVED them both!!

I didn’t have a budget but the dress I chose was $3000. I didn’t look at prices at all but this was the dress and I was tired of dress shopping.

My dress was $5700 CAD on sale. It should arrive in July – I can’t wait to have it in my size!
