If you don’t mind sharing… also include your location, as we all know it varies so much! We are closing on our first home tomorrow- $300,000 for 3 bed, 2.5 bath split level home with a 3-season sun room, 2 car garage, and large front & back yards. We are on the east coast- Wilmington, DE. My sister is in MI, and home prices are much lower.

I live in the valley in AZ. We bought in ’09 so prices are lower now, but we have a 3 bed + den, 2 bath, 2 car garage, pool, large backyard, large front yard and we paid 160k. We felt we got a great deal, and still feel that way, even if house prices have continued to drop.

We close a week from tomorrow on our first home!
We are paying $259,000 for a new build home with ~2700 sq. ft. It has 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 2 car garage, deck, fenced backyard, walkout finished basement, and hardwoods on the main level. It also backs up to a small nature preserve (yay for pretty green space!).
ETA: We’re just outside Atlanta, GA.

First and current home was £145k ($230k USD) for a 3 bed house with gardens, garage. Live in the middle of the UK
It’s our first home but were probably going to make it our forever home as we could easily extend if needed.

419K in Chula Vista Eastlake right outside of Sandeigo we bought our first place together….we were able to sell at the hight of the market and make quite a bit and then re-located to Florida and put a lot of money down on a home here….you can get way more house in Florida than California!

I’m still living with my mom, so I havent bought one yet. But holy goodness. What kind of jobs do you guys have where your first house is so expensive? My mom has been working her entire adult life and can barely pay off this $80,000 house.
I’m sure when me and Fiance have enough to get our own house, it will be a tiny 1 or 2 bedroom place for around $70,000.

@allyfally: I’m a registered nurse case manager for a health ins co and I make good money but my fiance is the bread winner for sure and we wouldn’t have been able to get our first house on my salary alone. He’s a regional manager of a liquor distribution company that supplies alcohol to the carribean islands…he manages 18 different islands….he makes good money but he does have to travel a lot.
Also it depends on where you buy in California…. LA or Sandeigo where we bought homes are just outrageous….we now live in Florida where homes are still high but not as high as Ca
