My husband but then boyfriend shocked the heck out of me.  We were at a jewelry store and he told me to pick out rings I liked.  little did I know, that he was going buy my ring on the spot! emerald cut 1.8 E, IF.  It was more than I would ever think of spending.  22k.  I paid for the setting because i felt so guilty.  2k.

My husband paid $20,000 for a 2 carat GIA I, triple x,  VVS1 and close to $5k for the Tacori setting. This is right in line with what he budgeted for.  I feel incredibly lucky. We are debt free other than our mortgage and he paid cash.

Just under $1200 for both of our sets; he paid. We didn’t have a budget but I saved him serious $$ by insisting we use his mom’s ring that she set aside for him – both the diamond (1.87ct F SI2) and the gold (14k yellow) were used in our set.

naivemelody :  Beautiful! I love the sentiment and that it has plain bands with the twist of using two tone metals!

My ring was around $3,500. My fiance picked it out and paid for it by himself. Originally the budget we set was 3k so he went a little over, but as he said to me later, he saw the diamond in person and knew he needed to get it for me. It’s a D color, 0.6 ct excellent cut diamond. The band has two 0.2 ct diamonds on the side as well.

I think he paid a bit over $8K for my ring. It’s a 1 carat princess cut with side stones. Color F, vvs1. I want the matching wedding band with the tiny diamonds and hope it’s not too pricey.

We used heirloom stones and recycled the gold from the original ring. Fiance and I are good at 3D programs so we designed our CAD. Printing the 3D wax mold, casting the gold and setting the stones cost $650

Center stone is VVS1 I color .7 carat (.9 cttw)

Appraised at $3500

Mine was around $450, lab made emerald in a custom setting, he worked with a jeweler from my home town on it (we’re in Boston, I’m from California).  I told him if he spent more than $500 I’d leave him 😉
