@littlebunny:  I’m using Westgate Florist in Oak Park (my ceremony is downtown and my reception is in Oak Park, where I’m from). I figured the suburbs would maybe have cheaper prices. I also looked at Bella Flora, whose flower prices were cheaper but had much higher delivery.

@spicyshimmer:  Wow that is surprising. That’s exactly what my budget is and the florist was happy to work with it. I did pick out flowers that wouldn’t be too expensive (some kind of lily that looks like a tiger lily but is sturdier and will last the day?) I also had to be creative about it- if I wanted 25 full floral centerpieces it would have cost a lot more. But I am getting lanterns and putting a lily next to each of them in addition to having like 6 bouquets, 6 bouts, 5 corsages, etc. etc. the works. I say go for an inexpensive flower and find a way to minimize the amount of flowers involved.

Thus far, without any recent updates, my flowers will cost $925.  This will include 1 bride bouquet, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 toss bouquet, 16 boutonnieres, 5 pin corsages, and 30 centerpieces (some of which will also be used for the ceremony).  I’m fairly excited about it, even though it is more than I would like to spend.  I did have pricey inspirations for flowers including hydrangeas, roses, and garden roses.  Those will be mixed with mums, carnations, and queen anne’s lace to save a little on cost.

@MaryRachel: thanks! I’ll check the out, but my ceremony and reception are in Chicago so would depend on whether they can deliver.

My ceremony is in Chicago too (Michigan Ave) and they have done ceremonies there before, so I would think it isn’t a huge deal for them if the reception is also in the city (Oak Park is less than 8 miles from downtown). Good luck!

For my daughter’s upcoming December wedding and reception, our total floral bill is around $1,800.  That includes very little church decor – only pew bows for the reserved family pews and 100 candles lining the aisle and altar.  (Our church is decorated for Christmas and does not allow  – or need – additional decor during the holiday season.)  Florals include bridal bouquet of mostly roses, five bridesmaids’ bouquets of roses, two flower girl pomanders, bouts for groom, clergy, dad and seven groomsmen/ushers, and four corsages for mom/grandmothers. The reception decor is going to be gorgeous, but very cost effective.  There will be 18 round tables plus the sweetheart table, and about ten rectangular six foot tables for gifts, guest book, escort cards, and buffet service.  Guest tables will have an 18″ round mirror surrounded with evergreens, topped with fake snow (Epsom salts works great!) and pine cones I have spent the summer decorating with Diamond Dust, so they appear to have frost on them.  There will be several mercury glass votives, and a piece of crystal with a floating rose.  Some tables will have a large lantern with a pillar candle and some will have a tall glass vase filled with tall “icy” branches.  The bride’s and maids’ bouquets will go into crystal vases on their tables to make them a little more special.  I think the entire room will have a lot of “wow” factor when you walk in, but again, for very little money.  Keep hunting – if I can get these prices in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, surely you can get something reasonable where you live!
