So BF and I are REALLY on board with getting married at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay. I know that this property offers “free weddings” when you stay a certain number of nights or book a number of rooms, however, when we did our wedding budget (including all of our “wish” items) it still came out to over $20K. Obviously, we padded it up and added EVERYTHING we wanted so that we could really evaluate costs, however, we were surprised that it was almost as much as having a wedding in NY. We want to invite 40 – 60 people (we know about 1/2 will show up).
So Destination Wedding Bees (particularly Jamaica), how much did your weddings cost at the end of the day? What did you sacrifice to keep costs down?

$20k really dosn’t seem to be that far out of the ball park if you have a lot of high end items and with that many guests.
We got married in Mexico and came in at about $15K with all of my “wish” items, even though a little less than $4K of it was for the wedding itself (private ceremony location, cocktail hour and private reception with 4 course meal for 25 people). Almost 1/2 of our budget went to phtography and videography (because I totally fell in love with our photographer as soon as I saw her work). Then we had a couple thousand in there for our attire. It was really my wish items that blew my original $6k budget out of the ball park.

We had a relatively simple Destination Wedding in Mexico and it cost us $8,000 (which inluded rings and our trip) for a small 12-person affair.
Just our wedding costs down there were $1,500 I think (for venue, officiant, semi-private reception, food, cake, flowers, hair, makeup and nails). Even if we had, say, 30 guests, the cost would have only increased about $200.
And one of DH’s friend’s is a photographer so he took our photos for free (though we still plan on getting him a gift).

my wedding (and you know where it was!) totalled about $14K for everything except rings. So that includes our 10 night stay in Jamaica, with 4 of them being at Couples Negril and 6 at Sunset Beach in Montego Bay. The wedding itself was about $3.5K at the resort (ceremony, private dinner and private bonfire beach party), the rest after hotel and flight went to bringing my own decorations as it saved a lot of money on certain things i wanted and comparing it to what the resort cost. then i spent a combined total of $1850 on my photography – which included the TTD session, and my dress with alteration was about $1800.
i think i could have pulled off my entire wedding for $10K if i cut back on some of the decorations, got a cheaper dress, no TTD, things like that. and obviously if you do a semi private versus private dinner reception.
oh and my wedding had 19 people total.
