This dress was anywhere from $250-$199 at other places, so I did a bunch of calling around.  I found this one shop that gave 30% off if you bought more than one!!!  So, my girls ended up getting the dress for $149!!!

I am a bridesmaid (this April) and a Bride (next April) and recently had a disaster with my bridesmaid dress which has taught me a thing of two for my own wedding.

All the bridesmaids live in various parts of the world so we opted to buy from 21Bridal.com. That way we could be certain the dress would be the same colour and fabric.

The dress was $100, a pretty good price for what looked like a nice dress.

Well my dress came and it is a disaster. Its supposed to have a deep V neck and back with a cute belt at the waist. It’s so badly made that the belt actually sits on my ribcage, not my waist and the deep v neck comes up to the top of my chest. Very ugly, bulky and conservative. It makes me look about 10kgs heavier than what I am so I took it to a few alterations places and they said it needs to be completely reconstructed. It’s going to cost me $140.00!!!

So learn from our mistake ladies, do not buy online if you can help it. It may end up costing you twice as much 🙁

Mine were from $123 to $137.  They all picked their own.

Is buying Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses an American thing?! I’m in the UK and nobody I know would dream of asking BMs to pay for their own dresses! If it’s MY wedding then it’s up to ME to buy dresses and suits etc!

@Fiberoptic:  I completely agree with this logic and that is why I bought my bridesmaids their dresses. Amongst my friends, I would say it has been split – some of them bought the dresses for their bridesmaids, some did not (and the bridesmaids had to pay for their dresses).

Mine are choosing any little black (solid) cocktail dress, approx knee-length or tea-length.  They may buy from anywhere, or use something in their closet already.  So, they spend nothing to infinity.

    OP, why do you ask?

I let my girls choose their own.  They both found  theirs for about $30 at plain retail stores

The goal was under $100, because I have a Bridesmaid or Best Man who will just be finished with college at the time of my wedding, so I didn’t want anything too expensive. We picked out a dress yesterday for $99, so, not too bad. 🙂

Ours were around $175 with tax. That’s about the average I’ve paid for most of my friends’ weddings as well…
