@red_pepper_gal  I fully understand that! Just amazed at how well people have budgeted – Props to them! Although it also depends on how the overall wedding is – formal, informal, sitdown, served, buffet, lunchen etc.

I am doing a few things DIY, have no bridal party, no transporation, no professional makeup services, no wedding cake, invitations printed for free, got great deal on preserved flowers, best photography package I could find with DVD and printing rights to all photos, and have no ceremony or reception location fees.  The food and alcohol are definately going to be the biggest cost (about half?) of the wedding. (I’m not counting the engagement or wedding rings)

I think the wedding itself including my dress will come in around 60-65,000. That’s not including my engagement ring, our wedding bands, ketubah, rehearsal dinner, or honeymoon. I think if you include all of that the total would be near 100,000 ish (but our ketubah was a gift to us, my fiancé’s parents paid for about half of the engagement ring, and his mom is paying for the rehearsal dinner. We paid for our wedding bands and not sure who is paying for our honeymoon).

After the wedding, we’re all flying to his home country (which is on the other side of thr world) for further celebrations. Not sure how much that will cost in addition. Maybe 15,000 including flights? My parents are going to use JW Marriott points so they won’t have to actually pay for their hotel.

My Fiance are working with an $18,000 dollar budget for everything.

$10,000 of that is for a 250 person reception

Right now we’re looking at about 60k.  That does not include honeymoon – we’re doing about 15k for honeymoon.  That doesn’t include rehearsal dinner (FH’s parents are paying for it, fortunately, and they are also paying for late night snacks at the reception).  Doesn’t include e-ring.

I really do not believe that honeymoon should be part of the wedding budget. That is a separate expense.

@AshleyR83  Wow 60K, I would take the money and run.

I was just wondering and by all means I do not mean this as a negative thing in any way. I just thought I wanted a big expensive wedding but then thought about our future and reality hit me how I need that money for a house, children, etc. and future.

I live in South Florida and everything here is super expensive.

So how do you or anyone spending that much feel about it? That this is your big day and it is worth it or ???

We haven’t officially added up how much it actually cost yet (been meaning to tally it all up), but it was roughly 14-15k all in all.

@siegeliIt’s in some people’s culture to have big, extravagant weddings. This is the case for my fiance’s family. Formal weddings also come with a bigger price depending upon your location. Weddings around here tend to start at $30k for 100 people, so anything with more guests and beyond the basic wedding is just going to cost more.

Also, in my $74k I’m including every last cent that’s going towards the wedding–honeymoon, taxes, tips, rings, unity candle, undergarments, DIY projects, ect… I’ve noticed that wedding budgets can very grately depending upon what people decide to include in the grand total. Including everything in our budget has helped my fiance and I to budget for the wedding so it’s all paid for before the wedding day.

@Peony007  Thanks for your response! I know in the Indian culture they have large weddings but my friend shared with me that the guests give them lots of money to pay back their parents.

Hmmm, yeah with our honeymoon and other details that would account for about another 5-6K.

But, I guess I am realizing that not that money should not be spent but my priorities are different. So I would rather spend the 10K or more on our honeymoon, travel, kids and house.

Also, that it might be along time before I get my hands on 10-100K that it would be nice to have that for us.
