We had our friend certified to marry us, so all we had to do was file his paperwork after he was certified to officiate for free online. I think it came to a total of like twenty bucks!

360$. 180$ went to the booking agency (if you don’t go through a Church, you have no other option than to go through this company) and 180$ goes directly to the officiant.

@petitfour: That is high…

Are you getting married in the church? usually that runs about $400-$500 (1/2 for the church, 1/2 for the preist).

If you are not getting married in a church, then check your state laws because you can get someone cheaper. In Florida, any notary public can marry you, as well as a justice of the peace. Those range anywhere from $60-$200.

My FH childhood preist is marrying us (at a garden, not in the church) and we are paying for his hotel stay (he is retired and moved away) and giving him $200.

I just got ordained to officiate, and it really is based on region, experience and sadly can also rely on the ignorance of the couple.  Some people know that you may be desperate or in a pinch, so they charge outrageous fees.

It is really simple in most states, and free to become an officiant. Unless they are traveling or you are giving them very specific directions and a lengthy ceremony and perhaps offering to release doves or something, I cant imagine 700 dollars.

Basically , I have found ( assuming you are not using a pastor, priest etc of a pre- existing church) it is anywhere from 100-400 in South Florida, not including tips. Most reputable and experienced are heavily booked

$475. She wasnt the cheapest (infact I think the most expensive) but she was a good friend of the family, and Future In-Laws love her because they are catholic and she used to be a nun. She is really sweet too.

I just had a post similar to this last week.

How much is/was your wedding officiant?

I got quoted $1200 from a retired Catholic priest to do our wedding outside of the church. After hearing what people said I decided that was a little to expensive…

I answered on the other thread also, but mine was free. We just signed a dear friend up online and had her do it.
