We ended up paying $3600 for 10 hours, an engagement session, 2 photographers, disc of edited photos. I added a boudoir shoot for an additional $450. Since we booked, their minimum fee went from $2900 to $3900 (it actually increased to this amount before we signed our contract but she still honoured it), and has gone up even more so since then. Our main photographer’s boyfriend is a wedding photographer as well and have recently combined companies. They charge a base fee of about $8000 to have both of them shoot your wedding, but they did ours for her old price. Her work is amazing and I am so thrilled at what a deal we got. They were amazing to work with. These photos have been resized so they are large, which is why the quality has been shot. Our photographers initial blog was http://www.elizabethinlove.com and the most recent is http://www.bethandtyinlove.com

Aaaaaaannnnddd… I’m about to be the crazy girl. Our Photo + Cinema package (2 photographers + 2 videographers) is $13,000. That includes engagement session (which took about 5 hours at 3 different locations) and engagement album, online web gallery, web quality digital photos (all photo rights), all day-coverage including getting ready, custom wedding album, cinematic music video, full-day video coverage, all raw footage DVD, 7 DVDs, and we could include same-day edit, but we really want all of the reception included on the video. If we ggot only the photo package, it was $7,000. Our wedding is November 1, so I don’t have wedding photos yet, but here are some from the engagement session.

@Miss_Narrows:  Awww no way! We hired Mustard Seed Photography too! I adore Kat, we loved pretty much every single one of our wedding photos. We’re hiring her to do a one-year anniversary session soon!

Wow, there are some gorgeous photos in here. It’s especially interesting (and useful!) to see photos of REAL everyday weddings with actual photography costs.

As for my own wedding photography…

Location: Seattle
Photography Package Included: Engagement session, full wedding day coverage (approximately 10 hours), high-res disc of images, all rights to print
Cost: $800

Small handful of engagement photos.

A few wedding day photos.

I don’t pretend that our photos are OMG dropdead gorgeous/amazing/etc. BUT our photographer was definitely talented, warm, professional, punctual, experienced, captured the moments and things that mattered on our wedding day, and was a blast to work with. For what we paid (especially in Seattle!) and how happy I am with the results, I have zero regrets.

@abigailelizabeth919:  OOoh, I love switzer films! I’m looking for a videographer now and everyone who has been booked has been “Oh, check out switzler!”. I’m like….”Uh, I’m emailing you because your packages start at 2k. I clearly can not afford switzer!”.

If you don’t mind me asking, where did you take your e-pics? I want to do something urban and grungy on our wedding day (to contrast my major princess-y ballgown).

Nice to see another St. Louis bride!

We’ve only taken our e-pics, but I’ll include a few here:

We are paying $2400 in St. Louis for an engagement session (about 2.5 hours), 9 hours on the wedding day, download/printing rights for all images, and an album. Plus we get to hang out with our kickass photographers all day (I want to be their BFFs).

@StL.Ashley:  they were kind of a “must-have” for me lol… I did look around some but ended back with Switzer. I love them! Lets see… We took a few photos at Cielo which is the restaurant at the Four Seasons, the poker-themed photos are at this abandoned old building north of that same Lumiere region. And then the other outdoor ones (the far away one) is like a block down ffrom that abandoned building. If you drive over in that area you should be able to find it. It is a little sketchy though. Haha. We also took a few outside Busch. Where are you having your wedding ceremony and reception? my fiancé and I actually live north near Chicago now, but I’m an STL girl at heart, so we had to have the wedding there! Did you see my comment earlier about the videographer?

@urchin:  + 1000!

For some obscure reason, photography it appears to be one of the few professions where people with absolutely no clue about what they are doing assume they can do better than someone trained, qualified and experienced.

Oddly enough, you rarely hear people assuring others that there’s no need to employ an electrician when any fool can wield a screwdriver. Or not to hire an engineer because hey, if you had a set of Lego bricks as a child then obviously you can build a suspension bridge over the Hudson River.

(Small rant over)

PS. I am a photographer but obviously didn’t shoot my own wedding. My photographer should have cost the equivalent of $4,500. He didn’t because he’s a fellow pro who gave me an unbeatable deal, the lovely man!

We took a risk hiring a fairly unexperienced photographer because we loved her work (and prices) (She was graduating college right before our wedding) but we are extremely pleased with the results. I love all our pictures! She has gone on to shoot many more wedding and does an outstanding job every time.

Location: Puerto Rico
Photography Package Included: Engagement session, full wedding day coverage with 2 photographers, disc of edited photos

Cost: $900
