Too much. And yes, I feel guilty all the time.

Our original budget was £6-7,000.

Then we started looking at UK food prices, and we realised that unless we wanted to either serve inedible, cheap food, cater it all ourselves, or do a potluck (which is not at all common where we are) then we were looking at over £3,000 JUST for the three course meal.

We wanted to have a free bar, but in order to afford that then we had to find a place which allowed us to bring our own booze. Then we had to find a place which allowed us to do that… there aren’t many of them. £1,200 for rental.

Then there were ceremony costs. And alcohol costs.. even doing our own buffet for our evening guests and our own wedding cake will set us back over £1,500… probably closer to £2,000.

Once you then add in entertainment, transportation, clothes for the entire bridal party (common in the UK), linens, glassware, decor, and all the rest of it, we’re looking at closer to £10,000… a heart stopping amount of money! It makes me want to cry, to be honest.

We’re still planning but we’ll probably come in at just under $50k including honeymoon and rings.  We had to let a few nonessential things like videographer, band, and photo booth go.

$25k-30k approximately right now for about 100 guests, not including rings or honeymoon.  Despite my detailed spreadsheet of expenses, I can hardly believe we’re at that number…  We didn’t exactly set a budget, but we’ve been trying to behave ourselves.  When you consider photographer is 5k, videographer is 2.5k, band is 2.5k, venue is 4k, food is 5k, drink is probably going to be at least 2k, dress etc for me is 2k…  OK, yeah, it’s probably going to be more than 30k…  Don’t tell me FI!  Fortunately, I am starting a job that has a very generous sign-on bonus, so we’ll be ok (we’re paying for everything ourselves)

We’re trying to keep it at $10,000 for about 120 guests. We have all the big important vendors booked, we’ve added up our pending expenses, and it LOOKS like we might make it right at 10k! Fingers crossed.

TO @MrsDeLovely:  you are very welcome…

Lol, I just realized that I left one of the most important elements out of my totals…

Our Wedding License… was aprox $ 100 in the State of Florida.  So that would bring the Ceremony Total to $ 1300.

Not crazy expensive… but not super cheap either.

IF one wanted to go really casual however (beach clothes etc)… then the total would have been under $ 500 for the Officiant, Beach Location, Bouquet & Bout, Photographer, 30 Mins of Photos without restrictions on a CD (aprox 50 photos), and the required Marriage License / Certificate.  That I would say is AMAZING Value.  Which makes Florida a great spot to Elope to IMO.

Our wedding including wedding bands and honeymoon (which we have registered for through honeyfund so hopefully the amount will be lower) is $40,000.

For our area (Northern NJ/NYC suburb/land of housewives & mcmansions), $40k is pretty modest.  Most of our money is going toward the venue (invited 200 guests at $100 pp incl. tax), Photographer $4600, and DJ for 6  1/2 hours (ceremony/cocktail/reception) $4000.  We are getting intelligent lighting & plasma screens through our DJ.

I’m not having much flowers at all.  Our venue actually has these gorgeous tall candelabra centerpieces they are throwing in for us.

My dress, including alternations, has come to $2000.  Luckily even with my $3000 dress budget, the dress I fell in love with at Kleinfeld was only $1200 (it’s possible!).  I’ve gotten most of my accessories via eBay because Kleinfeld’s accessory prices sent me into shock.  My godmother purchased me a veil there and it was about $700.

Our honeymoon is booked (Secrets Maroma Beach Cancun) for 8 nights at $4000 but we are hoping that we get a lot of honeyfund gifts.  We have a small traditional registry, but it’s only a few things we need or need an upgrade since we have lived together for 1.5 years and will be in this apartment for at least 1 more year as we look for a home.

We have three things that I don’t have numbers for.. but if they end up being how much I budgeted for… we’ll be right around $33k for 175 people (excluding honeymoon, rings & rehearsal dinner).  I originally wanted to come in at about $30k but I’m ok with being 3k over because some of the stuff was out of my control and others was from the request of my Fiance.  I’ll list out what we went over on and why…

Ended up adding 3 additional bridesmaids:

$390 (Hair & MU)

$105 (gifts for them)

$150 (bouquets for them)

Fiance wanted Premium Open Bar which put us $1k over the amount budgeted.

Fiance wanted to have two really nice suite for all the pictures/getting ready/night of the wedding which put us at $1600 over budget.

We fell in love with a photographer that put us $300 over budget.

So that’s a total of  $3545 that we didn’t account for.  Luckily I’ve come under budget for a lot of things:  invitations, dress, shoes, accessories, officiant, music, & favors.  Also, when I did the budget, I allocated out percentage wise and put our max amount at $28k which gave us some good cushion.

If we added honeymoon $7k for tahiti + his ring $850 + my ring $1775 + estimated for rehearsal dinner for 50 open bar $5000 = $6770… which makes this bad boy almost $40k.  Yikes!!

It ended up being 17k for an evening reception/ceremony, buffet style for 130 in OKC. We did pay for attendants dresses/shoes/tuxes/hair and make up. We also had open beer and wine.

We spent $7,000 for an 11 day honeymoon in Canada – and we got married on the trip.

The travel/trip part was $3,700 while everything wedding related (including gown and nice photographer) was $3,300.  We had two witnesses/guests.
