I actually didn’t have a budget for my dress. It was a huge thing for my mom that I got what I wanted without having to shy away from prices (although I would never go over $10,000)
I tried on all dresses, at all prices – high and low. and I ended up finding a Midgley & Sottero for $1600
so here’s the break down of all my attire for the big day;
Dress – $1680
Veil – $250
Jewellery – $270
Shoes – $170
Total = $2470 (estimated)

I didn’t want to go over $500, but…
PC Mary’s Dress: $599 (marked down from $899)
Matching embroidered elbow-length veil w/blusher: $70
I still have no idea about shoes or jewelry, though. And I’m going to be renting a crinoline, which will be about $30.

I originally didn’t want to spend more than $300-500 regardless of my budget. That’s just what I was comfortable with. My mom wanted me to be absolutely happy with my dress and thought I should go up to $1000. I gave in and and found a dress I REALLY liked for $800. I put down the deposit and then freaked out about spending that kind of money I was going to wear once. So I cancelled it and kept looking.
Next up I bought a sample bridesmaids dress for $50. It’s a really pretty dress and I was excited for a few days but then realized I didn’t love it. So I’m going to have it cleaned and sell it.
Final Answer: I went back to the first dress I was interested in about bought it used off of Bravobride.com for $400. Alterations would have been free compliments of my amazing aunt if I needed them but it fits perfectly as is. I’m going to make my own veil and don’t anticipate spending more than $15 on that. Also, I’ll be wearing a pair of boots that I already own.
I don’t expect to go over $500 total.

My budget was $300 and I found a lace dress, really close to my dream dress, for $320 with shipping. I’m not sure about alterations yet (I’ll have to wait until the dress gets here so I can try it on). My mom thought she could make a similar dress for cheaper, but I didn’t want to risk it because I know lace is harder to work with.

Budget was $5000, and I managed to completely blow that… It’s a gorgeous Pnina Tornai that was $9900 at Kleinfeld’s but we did get 12.5% off due to a trunk show special. My Mom and I both *knew* immediately when I put it on that it was the one, so she decided to get it as a gift for me. I honestly didn’t ever plan to spend that much on a dress, but it was just perfect and nothing else would have ever compared.

My budget for my entire outfit was $500. I’m having a seamstress make mine for $300 which includes alterations. I’m not having a veil, but I’m planning on having a hair flower and 2 boleros (one for the ceremony and one for the reception) and I don’t know how much those will cost. I also still need to find shoes and undergarments, so I’m thinking I’m going to go over budget a little bit.

I didn’t go into dress shopping with a number in mind but knew I wanted to save money-
I found a Melissa Sweet sample dress for $199 and ivory shoes from BCBG for $15.
Now I just have to avoid looking at other dresses for the next 9 months 🙂

My original dress budget was $750. I ended up spending $840 on the dress (Casablanca #1858, which I *loved*) and $180 on alterations for a total of $1020. This was the only place I went over budget and we were able to make up the difference in a couple of other areas. FWIW, I wish I hadn’t paid that much in alterations. I was extremely upset with the quality of the alterations–I spend $90 on a bustle that was a complete joke! It broke when I sat down to sign the marriage license, literally seconds after my bridesmaid fastened it. Oh, and I didn’t need any specialty lingerie, as I had cups sewn into the dress.

Budget was $3,000 for dress & alterations.
Found a dress I really loved for $2600
then found it online NWT for $1500 with a veil! Altogether with shipping and other fees I paid $1700, but well worth it.

$300 for a replica. But in trying to save money I ended up with a HORRIBLE replica that I HATE and now I have spent too much on other stuff to get another dress. And there is not enough time to get the designer version as the wedding is 6 weeks from tomorrrow.

My dress was $1000, but I haven’t quite gotten to the point of alterations yet.
Shoes (so far, my first pair) were $15 6 years ago…. gotta love TJ Maxx 🙂

1,545 (includes alterations, slip and bra). It was still a LOT of money though considering we are only spending a total of 14,500 on our whole wedding. I wouldn’t have it any other way though. LOVE MY DRESS!

I have no idea – was trying to keep it under $5K (because more than that is just ridiculous in my opinion), but of course I just tried one on that is $7,500 and fell in love. I’m procrastinating making a decision..

My mom budgeted 2000 for me which I thought was insane. I never wanted anything too fancy, but the total cost will probably come out around 1000.
Jewelry:$200 including a tiara
My alterations aren’t done yet but I will get a discount for them, so we’ll see.
