Hmm, we didn’t really have a budget and I started out by just trying dresses on to see which styles I liked. That’s when I fell in love with a $3900 Carolina Herrera. Just as I was about to splurge, Saks announced it was closing all the bridal salons, so I got the dress half off, and a veil with a blusher half off too. For both it was about $2000 and I think alterations will be in the $300 range.

I bought an Ines di Santo that cost over $5000, however I asked to buy the store sample and got it for $3200. My budget was about $3000. I figure there will be some alterations to take the sample in (a little too big) and shorten the hem.

My budget was originally $3000, I found a Pronovias that I LOVED for $2200 in a salon and then decided to buy it on OnceWed for $1000 even! Got to love that. And it’s in my size, although the bride I’m buying it from is a bit taller than me even in my heels so who knows how much alterations will be…

I’m really hoping to keep it all under 1K.
Can those of you who got an amazing deal on your dress share where you got it? Mostly trunk & sample sales? We’re not currently living in a big city so those are hard to come by.

Ouch. I guess I am on the expensive side, but the dress was the first thing I got, so it was before we had really set a budget. Mom set the budget at $3,000. Got the dress for $3,400. Haven’t done alterations, veil, sash, or undergarment yet. Fiance got jewelry for me and I got cowboy boots for shoes for $100.
but… I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

After falling in love with a $3000 dress, I set a budget of $2000.
My dress will be ready in May, and it cost $1350, with alterations. Shoes were $100. No veil.
If I don’t mess the dress up too much, I think I’ll try to sell it and pay off the credit card!

I haven’t ordered my dress yet, but it is $900 before taxes and alterations and such.

I’m having my dress made through http://www.etsy.com for $350 including alteration!

I am budgeting up to $1000 for the dress, alterations, accessories, underthings, etc. I think I can find something that I love for that amount. I know I can find something that I love if I went another grand higher, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’d rather have the extra money for something else in our budget…*sigh*

With everything, I think I spent around 2,000. I have big upper arms, so I had a casablanca jacket made for me and that costed almost as much as my dress! It’s beautiful though, adorned with swarovski crystals and beads.

i paid a little under 700 for my dress, they were having a sale 🙂 haven’t gone to do alterations yet so i’m sure that would a lot more to the overall cost.

I just bought my dress this weekend and after visiting Priscilla of Boston and Vera Want, I quickly decided that paying anyting over $1000 was not for me.
After a trunk show, I walked across the street and visited Neiman Marcus, Saks 5th, etc. looking for a very high end ivory dress.
I came across this beautiful sleek, tiered, ivory dress at BCBG and got it for $170!!!
