daydream0324 : Our officiant is a Pastor (retired), and he said his fee is whatever we felt comfortable with. I actually started a thread here asking how much people paid. http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/officiant-how-much-did-you-pay-them/
We decided on $300 with a nice thank you gift as he is a family friend as well.

Our pastor is $400. He has no travel fees (he’s commuting 1 hour) and it includes our rehearsal. 🙂

honeybee16 : Everything costs more in NYC. The officiant I really want is $400 which I thought is kind of pricey for my area but I read a few of her sample ceremonies and I think it’s worth springing for the extra cost as well if they are really talented.
hunting_bride: Thanks for the link so your previous post.

daydream0324 : in southeast, WI, it was $500-$700. We were incredibly lucky that my cousin agreed to get ordained online and do the ceremony for free.

$160, no rehearsal, 10 minute ceremony. All he has to do is read off a script I wrote myself. Easiest job ever.

We haven’t booked one yet but in Saskatchewan the most an officiant can charge is $75.00 for the ceremony and $25.00 if there’s a rehearsal. Plus, about 40 cents a kilometre for mileage so ours should be at most 150.00 but probably closer to $125.00.

Most I saw was $400-$600 without a rehearsal.
We are getting a friend of my mil who does weddings to do ours. She’s doing it for free and I’m doing some work for her. Good trade to me!

$300 two years ago in a Midwest suburb. She was a pastor but didn’t do a lot of weddings.

Mine was one of the top rated guys in the area- 400 including rehersal. He did a good job. Some people I know got a friend thats ordained or someone off craigslist much cheaper.

I’m in the process right now to find someone too. We’re still debating about getting married in a church or go with a smaller, non-denom chapel.
I’m seeing pricing range from $500-$600+ in SE PA for a minister/officiant. I was like whoa!! Didn’t expect them to charge so much.
(15yrs ago I got married by the town mayor, I think he charged $100).

I’m in Ontario; the officiant at city hall was $280, I found an officiant for $260, but ended up deciding to go to Niagara Falls for $325+tax and go to a chapel with music, flowers etc.

The first one we went through the contract process with was $450 including rehearsal & travel
Then, that fell through because she was talking with multiple couples at the same time and didn’t let us know, and they gave her a check one day before we did (still a bit salty about this…)
We did find someone else amazing, just a good bit more $$ but we really liked her so we went with it. She is $600 including rehearsal plus accommodations the night of the rehearsal.

Ours is $475 with rehersal. I was so shocked at first! We are in PA, and they are a company. I wish we just got a district justice or a judge, but oh well!
