Well, i am in another country, but just to give an example: i am insured through my firm, so i don’t pay anything. I’ve just added 4 people to that plan (my husband, stepson and two daughters) and i am paying 86€..monthly! Before, i had them in a plan that cost me 150€ per month

I work for a public university, and I pay $16/month for insurance for DH and myself.  If I were to add kids, no matter how many, it would be $24/month.

Granted, it’s for Kaiser, which is just fine, but if I were to get insurance that includes one of the best hospitals in the US, I would have to pay about $120 a month for my whole family.  I’m considering doing that when I have babies, but we’ll see.

EDIT: We also get dental and vision free.

We dont have ours together because ours are from our jobs. He pays $110 a month for dental & medical. I pay $80 a month for dental, eye & medical (my job is awsome, free dental & eye!).

I work for a private university and my Fiance and I have coverage under my plan since it’s much more comprehensive than his (even though he is an underwriter at one of the BIG insurance companies). For the family option, we pay $150 every two weeks but that won’t change when we have children.

We currently use our individual plans at our respective workplaces. For him to be on mine together it would be about $60 a month. It costs an additional $38/month to add a spouse.

DH and I are both on his company’s highest/best coverage plan and we pay $120/paycheck (aka $240 a month), I believe.

ETA: This is for medical, dental, and vision.

For medical and dental we pay a little over $200 per month total for the both of us. We’re lucky we have a fantastic plan, great coverage (no deductible and pretty low co-pays) through his work.

Mine is $30/month for health and $27/month for Dental and DH’s company pays for his. We have a pretty sweet deal.

Edited to add: I work for a college and he works in at a student lender. Our coverage seems to be pretty good.

I work for a small company (under 25 employees) and I pay about $150 for medical/dental every month.  If I were to add DH and our 13 year old it would have been about $850 a month!  I do have the option of free health insurance but it is terrible coverage ($40 co-pay!), but I’d still have to pay for DH and son.

DH works for a large nationwide company and he pays about $250 a month for his coverage but to add me would have dumped it up to like $600 a month.

So we just stayed on seperate plans! It’s so odd though because when I was growing up it was cheaper for my parents to be on one persons plan than to have them seperate and now it’s the opposite!
