I’ve just started to acquire a taste for white wine. I was always a spirits drinker but wasn’t ever a big drinker, I wouldn’t ever drink at home, usually just have a couple if out to dinner on the weekends or heading out for drinks every couple of months or so.
Lately though i’m really enjoying wine, i literally have one glass and it makes me feel happy!
I got a really good deal at the bottle shop on the weekend, basically buy 4 bottles of wine and get 2 for free. Drank a couple of bottles with FI over the weekend and have the rest in the fridge. Last night i decided to have a glass with dinner, and had one glass when I finished dinner, and I felt a little weird about it.
FI will have a beer as soon as he gets home, particularly in summertime he will have a few, and i don’t think anything of it so i don’t know why i feel so weird about having a glass of wine or two at night – probably just because i’m not used to it.
Do you drink during the week or just on weekends? Is it socially acceptable for women to drink during the week?? I feel like as long as i’m not drinking a bottle of wine every night it’s probably fine but would love to hear other views on this!

I don’t drink during the week and drink maybe every second or third weekend.
There is no particular reason, other than I am trying to maintain my weight and find it a lot more difficult when including alcohol in my refular diet.

I usually drink (in moderation, mostly) most days. I am cutting back this summer because I want to lose weight.

@Missy_Star: I do drink a glass of red wine or a beer most week nights with dinner. I think you’re fine! And I ❤ Liz Lemon!

@Missy_Star: My sister and I get together once a week and watch trashy TV, and we’ll each have a glass of wine. I work during the week, and she’s a teacher, so she has the night off. I make sure I only have one, or MAYBE two if I had a particularly crappy day. Never more than that, becuase I want to feel good when I wake up in the morning.
My belief is, as long as you know your limits, have a designated driver if you’re drinking outside of the home, and do it in moderation, there’s nothing wrong with whetting your whistle during the week.

A think a glass or two of wine at night is totally fine. If it had no calories I would every night, hehe.

@ceebree: +1 to what Liz Lemon said.
I drink up to two glasses of wine or beer most nights, and sometimes will have a third if the feeling strikes me. It’s just part of my routine to unwind at night.

I try to avoid during the week, but usually have on the weekends. Although right now I’m in low carb mode so have been mostly imbibing vodka seltzers on the weekend 🙂

@ceebree: Hahaha i love this!!
Westwood oh man i didn’t even think of the calories, better watch that the closer it gets to the wedding. I keep telling FI after the wedding i’m going to get enormous from gorging on things i’ve been restricting the last year haha
Good i feel better now and will continue to enjoy my glass of wine guilt free! x

@Missy_Star: For me, it’s not just the calories in the drink. My ability to resistant temptation goes way down when I drink.

I don’t because I am trying to cut down on calories so I’m only drinking water. Also, my body just does not handle alcohol well. If I even have one drink I feel crappy the next morning unless I guzzle water. But if I guzzle water than I have to get up at least once during the night to use the bathroom. Soooo olllldddd…. (not really but sometimes I feel like it!)
If it weren’t for those two things though, I probably would have a drink every night. Now that I can actually afford “nice” wine and beer I’m really enjoying trying out different things. And I just love wine!
