I think for 2 boxes (1 for each eye) I pay around $50 through 1-800-contacts.  It’s not that much cheaper than what I’d pay ordering them straight from the Dr.

Same thing happened to me! Luckily I didn’t like my contacts and my opthamologist recommended a more breathable contact (by a lot) and it was WAY cheaper than the crappy ones. I’d ask him/her for similar, cheaper recommendations.

I usually pay around $22/box as well, but I have paid upwards of $46. I feel your pain 🙁 Still cheaper than glasses for me usually. My prescription is so bad that I have to get the higher quality lenses unless I want coke-bottles on my face, and I need an anti glare coating. I’m only 24 but I swear I have the eyes of an 80 year old.

@BakerBee16:  I had shit genes from the get go! But, I guarantee staring at a computer screen every day isn’t helping either 🙁

I wear biofinity and they run about $35/box. My insurance covers contacts OR new glasses lenses each year so I tend to opt for the glasses.

@BakerBee16:  I think my contacts tend to cost around $30/box.. I used to order from replacemycontacts.com but then recently, I’ve discovered that walgreens.com is the cheapest place out there because they have coupon codes. Definitely shop around 🙂

I have used Acuvue 2 for years. I get them through America’s Best Contacts. Their participating stores will let you join their “club” for $99. You get the initial contact exam and then free exams as needed for the next 3 years, plus a small discount.

My contacts end up being around $18 per box.

i think for my old brand, i paid about $120 for a year’s supply so about $30/box. i switched to bi-weekly’s and it was $86 for a 6 month supply. it’s cheaper per box (~$21/box) but i have to buy twice as many boxes. 🙁 they’re better for my eyes though so it’s worth it.

I think you should switch Drs next go around. My eye Dr let me switch and come back for him to check the contacts until I was satisfied for the same flat cost. I only wear contacts on the weekends so I don’t spend much yearly – maybe $70? (I actually like my glasses and my astigmatism is a really rare axis in my left eye so contacts just aren’t as sharp as my glasses).
