I personally save $600+ every month (I’m hourly, so my paycheck varies month to month), with another $250 going toward wedding expenses.  Come the new year, that will pretty much flip when we get more aggressive with saving for the  wedding/honeymoon.  Fiance is paying off my ring right now, so I’m not sure how much he’s been able to save.

After the wedding, I’m hoping we can channel more of our funds into our mortgages to help shorten the term and build more equity (and throw extra money at them while we can still afford to).  We’re hoping to buy a house that is our home (instead of living in my house or his) within a couple/few years of getting married.  No kids yet, but we’re in our 30s, so we will probably start TTC within 6 months to a year of getting married.

We balance saving with paying our mortgage off. We bought our house 2 years ago and we already paid off $120k of it. We keep a comfortable cushion of cash and we each have quite a few investments, but when our joint chewing account gets a few thousand above an X amount we are comfortable with, we make a lump sum payment to our mortgage.

    I’d say around $200-300 a month.

I save $3k every fortnight, over 3/4 of my salary. Darling Husband saves $350 each fortnight but that is to pay off cc debt. We own a property which we also rent out and the rent covers the mortgage. We are renting our current  home. No other debts.

On average, we save about $1700 a month from our take home pay, which doesn’t include the $800 that we each put into our retirement accounts. We could probably save a lot more, but we like traveling to visit family and friends and I think we’re on a good path.

Yikes. I feel ashamed now. 🙁

I just bought a car so now I’m having to deal with a car payment. And now I have to carry full coverage so my insurance is going up.

So with that in mind, I’m hoping to have around $100 to $200 left over after all my bills. So that will be put in my savings account.

The sad thing is, I’m not even contributing anything to my retirement yet. I don’t make enough money to do that right now. Hopefully things will change next year though and I’ll get a raise. Just have to wait and see.

ETA: When I say bills, I’m also including groceries and gas for my car in that. So after all my bills and living expenses are paid, I hope to have $100 to $200 to put in savings each month.

@amandasouthcarolina:  I used to save, then all of my savings went to cover only 1/3 of my first year $30,000 tuition bill LOL. Two more years of professional school left, ugh.

We are saving about $1000 a month right now; sometimes more. Trying to save as much as we can for the next 7 months or so when we are moving out of my parents house.
