$100/wk for me and the Fiance

To drive down costs it helps for me to see what meats are on sale and then plan out the meals… we also eat out a fair amount too so….

I mainly shop the sales. I also like going to Aldi; most of their food is significantly cheaper than the regular market. Their produce is also good quality while still being inexpensive. Unfortunately, Fiance doesn’t pay as much attention to food prices and likes organic food; otherwise the grocery bill would be very low for the both of us.

$100-150 per week. It’s just Darling Husband and I, but I usually cook for a family of 4 and he eats left overs for lunch.

paigey22:  I actually didn’t know the answer off the top of my head and was curious so I checked my credit card bill, looks like over the period of a month we spend around $400 on groceries. I am not going to be much help with the second part, it is really bad, but Fiance and I just buy whatever we want food wise. The only realy “tip” I have for saving money on groceries is we shop a lot at Costco, which means buying food in bulk, but it turns out to be cheaper and I actually prefer the quality of the food to typical grocery stores, especiallt the meat ๐Ÿ™‚

paigey22:  me and Darling Husband it’s about $100-150 a week.  He gets fed lunch at work, I bring lunch.  I pay attention to sales.  We’re also in southern Ontario for what that’s worth.

paigey22:  FI is a fantastic cook, but he’s a lot pickier than I am. (When I lived alone, I could survive on less than $30/week in groceries…a plain chicken breast and some frozen veggies are about as far as my cooking abilities stretched.) Ever since he moved in, the amount I spend on groceries has skyrocketed to close to $150/week because he likes to make everything from scratch and use high-quality, fresh ingredients.

We don’t have a lot of money, and we both agree that the amount we spend on groceries is quite a bit for just two of us, but we’ve talked about it and agreed that this is the one splurge that we are willing to keep up because, well…we both really like food and we eat a lot of really fantastic, healthy meals.

I budget $350/mo for groceries for myself and my husband, and $100/mo for restaurants, and we usually stick pretty close to that – we do occasionally go a little over on one or both categories, so I’d say we spend $450-550 on all food for the month.  There are areas where we could still cut back, but we try to minimize highly processed foods and buy organic as much as we can (especially for meat and dairy), so that limits our options for couponing and taking advantage of big sales.  I try to shop store brands as much as I can (we have Kroger here, and I like their Simple Truth organic line) and stock up on things we use a lot when they’re on sale.

We spend around $75-100/wk for the two of us. That doesn’t include the one night per week that we go out to eat. Otherwise, every meal is prepared at home (we both bring our lunch every day).

I make nearly everything from scratch, so I find it really unfortunate that most of the foods you can use coupons for are processed. Obviously produce goes on sale when its in season, but it definitely drives up our bill to buy everything fresh.

I do, however, have one processed food weakness and its Oreos! But I never find coupons for those either ๐Ÿ™

We spend about $100 a week for the two of us and we shop mostly organic at a “healthy store” similar to whole foods. That includes breakfast for me for the week and I eat leftovers for lunch but my Darling Husband buys his breakfast/lunch out of his spending money. He does not like leftover for some strange reason

It depends so much on the week/month for us. Typically $100 per week is about avergae. but add in damn dog food, paper towels, a candle ( I always end up buying those 3 wick candles!) and then you’re at $150 for the week.

If I feel like we are spending too much I suprise Darling Husband with a nice smoothie for dinner for like– 2 nights in a row. He attributes it to me being all health conscious and I attribute it to ” we need to eat these strawberries before I buy more food!”
