@Sunnysally:  The bridal showers I have hosted or attended seem to be on a much smaller scale than some I have read about here.

They are normally held in someone’s home in the afternoon with snacks, tea, coffee and wine or in the evening with a similar but slightly different menu.

Sharing expenses with other BM’s I would say we spent no more than $50 each plus the cost of a gift.

@Sunnysally:  I spent about $100 on a relatively small shower I cohosted with other BMs. the only showers I hosted alone were baby showers and for those I spent from $500 to $1000

I spent around $150 with what I brought to a bridal shower for food…for a baby shower I hosted for a friend I had a brunch for a small group (20ish) and it was around 350 when all was said and done for everything (invites, italian lunch, candy buffet and diaper cake…another friend brought the cake).

I think my aunt spent around $1000.  She was very generous and she rented out a room for me in a historic mansion.  It was proably fancier than my own wedding is going to be!
