I’m always befuddled by this – how much am I supposed to tip my hair dresser? I’ve heard 10%, 20%, and no tip necessary. What do you ladies do? Do you tip differently for a cut/highlight versus just a simple trim?
And to tie this back in with wedding stuff….how much did you/will you tip the hairdresser that does your wedding style?

I typically tip about $5 for a $50 haircut…so 10%. I’m doing my own hair for the wedding day, but I would have stuck to the 10% tip since it would cost more.

I tip my hairdresser 20%.

20% here, too. But I’ve heard if your stylist actually owns the salon, or is self-employed, then you can tip less…

Hmmmm, I’m bad with percentages. My haircut is like $65 and I usually give her $10. So about 15%?

i always do at least 20-25%. (But i highlight, color, cut). For blow dry & style only prob 18-20%.

I usually tip 15-20% of whatever service I get. I plan on doing the same for my wedding hair stylist.

I always do 20%-25% but she is awesome and gives me a 10-15 scalp and neck massage while rinsing my hair, and spends tons of time with each client.
(also, selfishly, I want her to remember that I am a “good client” and keep doing nice things for me like the free massages!!) 🙂

I do 20%. And I do more when she goes above and beyond, like rearranging her schedule to fit me in at the last minute.

My haircut is usually $50, and I just always give her a $10 tip.
On the day of the wedding, I used a different stylist (out of town wedding) and I actually tipped a lot more. My hair took a couple hours, including curling and styling. I think for an $85 up do, I tipped $25 (so I think that’s about 30 percent). She was awesome though.

i absolutely love the lady that does my hair and she always does an awesome job! every time she does my hair i get a cut, color, blowdry and style. i dont really use percentages in the tip….i usually give her $15-$20. im bummed that we’re moving and im only going to be able to go to her one more time 🙁

wow! i dont tip the girl who does my hair because she does booth rental so all the money she charges goes right to her, its not like when you are working for a salon and you only get hourly plus tips..
