A few of my friends are going in together on a more expensive gift for our friend’s baby shower. She is a good friend of mine. My other good friend said she usually spends about $75 on her close friends for gifts. I thought that might be a bit much but I don’t want to be the only cheapskate not giving $75. I said I typically give a gift worth arount $45-50.
How much do you typically spend on a friend’s shower gift?

I voted 25-40 but I misread and thought it was bridal shower. For a baby shower, usually ~50 if it’s a good friend.

Depends on the friend, but I usually spend about 25% of what I plan on spending for total their wedding. I went to a friend’s shower this weekend and spent about $40 on the shower gift and we’ll probably spend another $80 – $100 on the wedding gift.

For a friend, $50. For a good friend, $75ish (I probably go over because I tend to buy stuff, and then buy even mopre. oops). For my besties, I’m the one hosting the shower, so it’s the gift costs plus a few hundred in hosting costs.

Depends on the friend and my other expenses that month, but I try for around $50.

For co-workers and more casual friend’s baby showers, typically $50-75 (usually a bunch of small things). For really really close friends typically $100-$150 (usually 1 bigger ticket item).

@lolot: I answered higher because I thought it was a bridal shower too. Might want to add “baby” to the thread title.

Depends on how close I am to the friend. If it’s just a friend, probably $40 maybe $50, but for someone I’m close to it’s over $100 (i.e. best friend, close relative, etc)

@Lily_of_the_valley: Usually about the same or slightly more for a baby shower. I like using weddings as benchmarks for what to spend on friends in general.

I agree it depends on the level of closeness. Some one I dont know toooo well I’d spend 25-35. Someone I know well but may not be ubber close to (like family that im not close to) $50, and my very close friends/close family members $75-150.
I couldn’t buy my sister a gift for the shower because of my expenses that month but I gave her $125 a few weeks later for something she didn’t get at the shower. 🙂
