$168 to be exact and that was actually really expensive. I was trying to keep the cost a lot lower than that but I wanted something more formal and I ended up going with my 1st instinct (originally nixed because of price) and all my girls wore the White by VW for DB dress.

Mine were $170 with taxes. I think it was reasonable, however, my girls were willing to pay more if necessary. I think we were lucky because it was the prettiest one we tried!

Talk to your girls! I just gave my girls rough guidelines and let them get their own dresses. They each spent about $30.

Yes, I agree you should talk to your girls… It depends on where they’re at… My brother, SIL, and 2 nieces were ALL in 2 different weddings last year – expensive, as you can imagine! I was in 2 weddings, plus my own! And my DH was in 1 wedding, plus ours… So, it was an expensive year for us! My SIL definitely couldn’t have afforded a $220 dress under those circumstances, but there are also times when people aren’t in weddings for years and they can totally handle it! 🙂

It is all about what your bridesmaids are comfortable with. All of mine (7!) said that they didn’t want to spend over 100-120. So, I found a super cute prom dress from Kohl’s on sale for $40 and we went with that!

I wanted something fun and not so formal-looking for my bridesmaids dresses so have chosen the following design. It’s currently for sale on ebay at £26 including shipping! I received one just a few days ago to check for quality before purchasing the others and they are really amazing value!

My girls got theirs on sale for $90 each, They’re not from a bridal salon, though, just a regular store.

I think that if it was somewhere local, we could find them for cheaper/work out a deal. One is in Colorado, one is in Indiana, and one is local, here in Alabama. I’m trying to find somewhere they can all shop and find the same dress. Even if I find one in a store, say, Kohls, they might not have it at the Kohls by them. I figured online was the best bet for us. I guess I need to ask all of them what they are comfortable spending, and work from there. Thanks so much for all the input, ladies!

@Mrs. Bear Cheese Pie: LOVE LOVE that dress!
I would ask your girls. i thought mine would not want to spend over $100 and even started looking at online websites in fear.
We got togehter @ panera and talked- they all agreed under $200!! we found the dress my Fiance liked in a different style ( his 1st pick was $335! and we all almost feel over!) ..the dresses we picked are $170 and everyones ok with it. I am buying all jewles and shrugs, and have makeup being done ..and then are all wearing what ever black shoes they want.. it all worked out surprisingly well!

You should ask each bridesmaid INDIVIDUALLY for her budget. Once you get them together in a group, they may feel badly if they have a lower number in mind and someone else says something on the higher end, and it could cause undue strain on their wallet.
When you have each individual’s budget, adhere to the lowest number.

Thanks! I love it too; I’m really hoping they like it.
I feel like we’re doing the same thing. I already have jewelry for them, and my only requirement for shoes is black, haha. I don’t care what they look like.
I’ll have to do individually since the three of them live in three different states, but definitely a good tip. Thanks!

Two of my girls bought their dress when it was on sale they got $15 off…total $135, my other girls didn’t make the sale so they will pay $150. I did talk to my girls and they were all totally fine with that price point. Big selling point for me was the fact that my girls can totally wear this dress again which made me feel better about the cost….atleast they aren’t spending that much on a dress they will only wear once!

Mine were just over $200. Our dresses are not identical, but are from the same designer, in the same color & fabric. I gave the girls a list which had a number of dresses on it, ranging from about $80 to about $250. They all picked dresses slightly more than $200. We also had a coupon for $10% off, and two of the girls got a student discount.
