I know this is an old thread and you’ve probably gotten it fixed by now, but if you go to Tena’s in downtown they should be able to do it for like $30. That’s what they told my friend!

FutureMrsT1221:  The price of the diamond is really nothing. It is the labor with the setting, polishing, and rhodium (re dipping) that the price can add up, especially if you knocked off a prong.

I knocked a halo stone out (they think it was cracked as the setting was perfect). I happened to ask the jeweller who is designing our rings if he could fix it for me. He’s replacing it, checking the rest and cleaning/polishing it at no charge. We didn’t buy it there at all, we do have a warranty, but we’d have to drive to the US. And I figured a 1.4 point couldn’t be THAT expensive to pay for out of pocket.

Would you have to pay a deductible if you had it insured separately? Our home insurance (the e ring is tied into that policy) is $500.  It’d have to be as big repair for me to put it through, if the deductible applied.

FutureMrsT1221:  Your halo looks exactly like the Henri Daussi setting I had so much trouble with.  Luckily, my jeweler replaced the setting with a custom one, and I was able to keep the amazing cushion from the original setting.  I just lost my first stone off my band, and was curious how much it would be to replace. I dropped my ring while steaming it.  Oops!  Hope you got this taken care of!

My jewelry store is amazing.  They have the best warranty around.  If you ever lose a diamond, no matter the circumstances – they’ll replace it for free.  Even the center stone.  He went so far as to say we could throw the ring down the garbage disposal, on purpose.  And as long as we fished out the ring itself, the diamonds would be free.  All service is free on it forever too.

FutureMrsT1221:  Check with where he got the ring. They may replace it for free. If anything happens to any of my stones they are replaced for free from the jewerler not insurance.

Here is my ring for stone reference

I dropped my anniversary ring on the bathroom floor (ceramic) and out popped a stone. For the life of me I couldn’t find it.

I returned to my jeweller and he replaced it for free (2 years after my one year anniversary!) Smart man. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. That’s the beautiful of a good mom and pop’s brick and mortar jeweller.
