I’ve been told (by many stores) that the average cost is between $100-400, but that number varies depending on your size and the exact alterations needed.

It really depends on what type of alterations you would be getting. I am wearing a lace gown and my alterations are going to be $412.99. My alterations include resizing and reshaping the bust and sides, a custom 6 point French bustle, and steaming, pressing, and cleaning; if needed, of all layers. I am not getting my gown hemmed because I will be wearing four and a half inch heel and a very full crinoline, so with both of them the gown lifts it just enough. My gown is a lace ballgown, so depending on what type of gown you have, your alterations could be more or less.

These seamstresses are both highly recommended: Alterations by Mahtab (OC) and Renee in Stitches (Woodland Hills). Renee worked on one of my dresses and she is very sweet to work with. Mahtab is usually booked two months in advance. Depending on what exactly you need, I’m estimating the cost would be $100-$300. The alterations in the bridal stores usually cost twice that.
