I was reading through the post about what colleges everyone went to and there are a LOT of ladies here with advanced degrees! Which got me thinking….what % of education does everyone want/is striving for? A bachelors or more? A bachelors and a masters? No PhD? Hopefully I include enough options but I’ll add more if i accidentally glazed over something….
Also, what motivates your decision? Are you waiting to be deemed financially independent from your parents so you get more financial aid? Are you unable to get a job? Do you just like school?
Personally, I have a BS in chemistry (which is NOT a good fall back for me seeing as how chemists make half what an engineer makes and if i get laid off i’m screwed!!!) and I’m working on my MS in interdisciplinary engineering and my MBA, which is a joint program offered online for working professionals. “Just” a bachelors isn’t really enough in the field I work in–you really need some sort of advanced industrial education to be credible, and an MBA if you want to get into management after 10-15 years in engineering. Engineering managers make bank =]. Plus, with the economy being so hard, lots of people are going back to school instead of working (something I’m encouraging my husband to think about, otherwise he’ll be a stay at home daddy), and I don’t want to be behind the educational curve when all those new graduates enter the work force. Is it May 2013 yet? 
I guess just click the highest…if you have a PhD we’ll assume you have a bachelors =]

I went for one, and not soon before graduation decided that a few more classes for two sounded like fun, since I’d been wanting to take those classes anyway.
Not that it’s helped… (why isn’t there an angry face in the emotions?)

My option wasn’t there so I picked BS. I don’t know if it’s different in Canada but an engineering degree is a BEng. That’s enough for me, 5 years of that was torture enough and it allows me to make decent money. At this point I have no plans for any more “formal” education!

I want to go to law school, but would need to go part time due to financial reasons. I was going to start putting in applications this year, but with the wedding, I just didn’t have time. I just took the LSAT again this past June, and that’s good for a few years. So I plan to put my applications in next fall. I will hopefully be going to John Marshall in Chicago, it’s right around the corner from where I work, which is pretty key if I’m going part time. My job allows for me to have some down time, studying, so as long as something bad doesn’t happen with that (knock on wood), I should be good to go!
I have wanted to go to law school since forever, I actually was so passionate about it in college one of my girlfriends decided to take the LSAT and go. She’s at Florida State right now in her second year. Somedays I wish I was her, but when I graduated college I had a lot on my plate, the FH and I had been dating for a few months, my LSAT score wasn’t great. So I got a job and studied the LSAT, got a much better score that time around, then the FH wanted to move to Chicago, and proposed and now we’re getting married, so life has been a bit crazy lately, haha. Hopefully, I can still make my dream come true though.

Im an education major but i know i will have to eventually get the Masters and im not excited about that

i got an ms. i did that right after i graduated from college, literally in the same month i graduated i went straight to get my masters. by the time i was finished, i was so sick of school! no more school for me! even though my degree seems pretty useless right now…

I have my BS in Computer Science and so far that has been enough. I am in mgmt and making a very nice salary.
However, for personal reasons, I want to get my MBA and I am also considering a PhD. After I retire from this career, I want to teach at the college level. I plan on enrolling in the MBA program next fall and since I will be going full-time..I should be able to complete that in a year and a half.
Thankfully, I had a full academic scholarship for undergrad so I don’t have student loans to worry about.

I’m getting my BA soon in interior design, but I’ve been in school so long I can’t stand the industry anymore. I’ll probaly get a masters way later in the future, but I’m leaving my options open!

I first got my BA in Health Sciences then decided to go back and get a BS in Nutrition now I am getting my MS in Nutrition. LOL
I am so SICK of school!!!

I finished up my PhD last year in cell and molecular. I went into it right after college because I got paid to be there and jobwise I felt it would let me be more independent and later more flexible with jobs when I wanted to start a fam. Definately got sick of all the hoops quite a few times though and glad it’s done.

I have my BA in Communications – Journalism/PR and I am currently getting my MA in Corporate Communications. I’d like to go for my PhD in some sort of communications someday, but I might get my MBA between now and then. Ahhh, this sounds like a lot!

I don’t really have in my head what I think is “enough education” really. I am willing to obtain whatever degrees that help me get where I want to be.
I have my bachelors degree and am a young working adult right now. I am planning on obtaining at least one masters degree, maybe 2. I think the first masters with be a masters of public health- MPH.

I currently have my BS in management with a background in accounting. I would love to go back for my Master’s in Human Resources particularly but try to save up money for that Master’s degree before doing anything. I can’t find a program near where I am so I definitely need to move in order to get into a good program.

I have 2 B.S., a MBA and am currently working towards a Doctorate (German version of the PhD). Sometimes I think it’s a bit much but I would love to be the dean of a business school someday so it’s necessary if I really want to enter the world of academia. Financialy, I was able to get a half assistantship and I stayed instate for my MBA so it just seemed like a smart decision if I could get a half price instate MBA. I worked for 2 years before going back to school and again, it is not costing me anything other than forgone income because I have a stipend. Hopefully I’ll get a job as an assistant professor in 3 years and make 6 figures and the schooling will all be worth it.
