estimate 1 pound of food per person. 1/2 lb per child. so 65 lbs of meat, maybe 20lb of each and sides

A friend does a similarly sized BBQ for thr 4th of July. She makes 30 lbs of meat and there are never leftovers. It’s roughly half kids under 12.

A third of a pound per person would be a very low estimate. Most places recommend 1/2 to 3/4 lb per person of boneless BBQ. So if you are offering bone-in options, then the estimate has to go higher.

I’d always rather have leftovers than not enough and it’s hard to predict which meats/sides will be most popular on any given day. Would you be comfortable with 40-45 lbs of meat and sides for 80? Tell your family to bring containers to take home what’s left.
