The dress itself was $170, but my mom put $50 down for everyone so it was $120 for them plus tax. I didn’t want to screw up your poll, so I thought I’d tell you! I’ll vote for the $120 since it’s what they actually paid.

We’re going for $100-$150. So far, two of my girls have found their dresses for right at 150. We didn’t go to a “bridal shop” per se, and instead when to a very small local store that carried a line of dresses we all thought would work (Alfred Angelo). The service was MUCH better than when we went into David’s…which I hated. I got my dress there and had a great consultant. When we want to look for Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, the new consultant was so pushy and the dresses not great.

As far as not bridal at ALL – we had thought about Macy’s or JCPenney.

I paid 250 for dress and tax this does not include alterations. Way more than I wanted to spend. But she really liked it and it isn’t hideous. But i won’t wear it again.

The Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses were $140 but one girl already paid for alterations and they were $60, so it’s costing her $200 total. I voted for $101-150 because not everyone will pay the same amount for alterations. If I hadn’t chosen dresses from a bridal shop I may have gone to a department store. I saw some cute ones at Nordstrom.

Well, with the coupon I gave them they could have gotten it for $85 –which my Maid/Matron of Honor did, and she didn’t need alterations. My sister, who has 3 kids and a lot of responsibilities if I’m being fair, ordered her dress late and had to have it rushed, didn’t use the coupon, and had to have alterations. I haven’t even asked her how much she finally spent on it. So I guess it depends on the bridesmaid 🙂

My girls paid $119 + tax so around $141 in total, which they were fine with. I think as a bridesmaid the most that I would feel comfortable paying is $200

The dresses for my girls cost them each $150 w/o alterations.  I had originally told the girls I was hoping to keep it close to $100 but when we finalized the choice and found out it was $150, everyone still seemed fine with it.

My girls paid about $120, before alterations.  So I say about $150 or so.  But even then, it feels awfully expensive, so I try to cover some of their other costs (hair, etc.)!

I’ve been in 4 weddings….  Two of them the bride paid for the dress (I think they were about 130-150 each).  The two other I was in were 145, and 165 each.  None needed alterations except a hem that my mom did for me.

I voted less than 50 but that’s because I live in the UK and girls wouldn’t dream of having to PAY towards someone else’s wedding over here. In our culture, it is very much the bride and groom’s wedding and therefore if they want you in a bridesmaid dress they have to buy a bridesmaid dress. But, as a bride, I would budget at least £200 ($330) to buy them nice dresses. That’s because I only plan to have 2, though, and I want them to look stunning because they mean so much to me.

My Maid/Matron of Honor got her dress at JC penny for $35 on sale. My other bridesmaid got hers at Anthropologie for $115. I had them pick whatever they wanted, as long as they had pink and flowers.

I voted for $50, but I should have voted for $100 – $150. I had the dresses custom made in china with Milly Bridal. I got them yesterday and I am really happy with the results. But before I had one of the girls try on the inspiration dress and them we ordered them.  I ordered them in March and got them yesterday. So order early. I also told them a fake wedding date to make sure I would have them in time.

$200 for a dress may not seem like much to some people but keep in mind that your BMs will also be paying for alterations, shoes, jewelry, hair, makeup, travel, shower, bach party, and 2 gifts (shower and wedding). they could easily be spending over $1000 to be part of your wedding. this is unreasonable. it especially bothers me because bridesmaids dresses are often so plain and ordinary that they could easily be purchased at a department store for under $100. it just takes some planning and searching.
