Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are expensive! I paid $160 (discount because of the number being ordered) and I thought that was ridiculous.  I would never pay $160 for any one item of clothing for myself, even if I loved it.  I would say if you can afford it, put some money towards the dresses (or jewelry, shoes, etc.). My BMs all got their dresses on sale (Jcrew, Ann Taylor) for under $60.

Each of our girls are paying for their own. So it was important to me to find something that they could wear more than once, which lead me to convertible dresses. Then I found a seller on etsy that had the exact color we needed, making the dresses about $80/girl. They each get to wear the dress how they choose on our day, plus it’s more likely that they will [be able to] wear the dress again sometime.

Mine are between $250 and $350 a piece (the girls are wearing different Jim Hjelm styles in the same color/length/fabric). I am paying for them out of the wedding budget because I couldn’t ask my friends who are grad students or have their first job out of college to fork up that much cash.

Trying to keep the dress under $200 for my bridesmaids.  They will be purchasing it themselves.  We go out looking on Monday.

I’ve been in several weddings and have had to purchase my own bridesmaid dress.

I only have one bridesmaid – so I bought her dress. It cost about $180.

My Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses were $150/each.  I’m paying for them (I have 5) as they paid for my dress when I was a Bridesmaid or Best Man.

I’m one of the BMs in my FH’s younger sister’s wedding party.  The girls paid our own dress and shoes.  With the discount, it came down to $167 each for the dress.  We got sandals from DSW for $35 each.

Mine are 130 each and I’m not paying at all.

If I were a Bridesmaid or Best Man I would speak up and say I’m not comfortable/ can’t spend that much on a dress. $150 including tax would be my limit and lower if I also had to buy shoes, jewlery and all that.

Oh so basically that means I think you should help out. Paying for all of it isn’t necessary, but maybe half would be nice. Note: I’m opposed to paying for the dress as their gift, as it isn’t really a ‘gift’.

I found a great dress for $175 but my Maid/Matron of Honor isn’t willing to pay over $50 and I don’t really have the money to make up the difference… =(

I’m planning on asking my BMs first how much they’re cool with paying, so if it’s $100 and the dress I pick is $120, I’d just pay the 20 to make up the difference

I’m gonna try to be as cheap as possible, but I’m also being super picky so I’ll probably end up making them (more like asking my Maid/Matron of Honor to make them with me, she’s a better sewer)
