Hi Ladies…hoping for some advice on this. My husband and I are invited to spend the day out on the lake today. It would be great to go, but I am a bit concerned out the heat/sun exposure. They spend the WHOLE day out there (probably from 11:30am until 7pm or so) and it is supposed to get up to the mid-to-upper 90’s today (humid too). We’d be out on a boat, so I wouldn’t exactly be able to leave early.
I am 15 weeks preganant and just don’t want to overdo it with the heat/sun. Of course, if I do go – I would use plenty of sunblock and bring water too. Thoughts??? Should I sit this one out? Thanks in advance!

I’ve never been pregnant, but my FSILs were out all day while pregnant. They said (they are sitting here, one pregnant with #5) to drink lots of water, wear sunscreen, and beware of the heat/morning sickness combo. But you wouldn’t be the first to yak over the side of the boat.

I’ve never been pregnant, either, but I agree with Pollywog. Lots of sunscreen (SPF 50, and put it on every couple of hours at least), LOTS of water, and listen to your body. If you aren’t feeling good, even the slightest, you probably need to get out of the sun/heat for a little while.

Oh, and because you have time, grab a bag of seedless grapes, wash and drain them, pull them off the stem, and freeze them. Then suck on them on the boat. The sugar and coolness is the best cure for heat sickness I’ve found (I’m the one hurling off the boat due to heat sickness while the pregnant daughter in laws are just peachy)

You should be fine but stay hydrated and wear sunscreen. I am 20 weeks and we will be going to an amusement park Tuesday while it is in the 90’s my doctor just said to keep hydrated and use sunscreen.

Stay super hydrated and make sure not to get too hot. Yesterday, I was out in the heat at an outdoor mall for about an hour or two. I didn’t drink much of anything during that time. I came home and drank a bunch of water. I went to the bathroom at spotted a bit. I called the emergency doctor line as soon as I saw it. My husband thought that it was from the dehydration and walking yesterday. I’m couch bound until the end of the weekend. I’m relieved to be getting kicks and rolls from him. I can’t wait until my appointment on Thursday to make sure that he’s okay. I’m 27 weeks and some change pregnant.

I spent an hour outside in the Florida heat today and it felt like I was dying…
