The magazines say 1200-1500 even up to 2000-3000, what is consodered reasonable for amanhattanDJ?
My friend recommended someone he asked my budget I said 800-1400- he’s charging 1400, my higher end; I found DJs for 500-600 on a website with great reviews; does an overpriced DJ really make a difference; to me so long as theres great music and someone pumpin gout the music all the time I’m good
working on DJ now
any NYC recommendations? is a suburban DJ much different from a NYC based one?

I had a great DJ. His prices range, and he’s at the higher end of your budget, I think $1000 or $1200 is his lowest package, but they are very very professional and great to work with.
They have two offices, one in Floral Park, NY and a second in Summit, NJ. They did my sister’s wedding at the Foundry in Long Island City and a my wedding this past March.

They have an extensive collection, they do cultural weddings. They also do many American weddings. My sister and I are Dominican and my sister married someone of Polish descent and I someone from the Midwest. They were able to keep both sides of our family going. I think it’s worth it to contact them and speak to them. I can’t recommend them more highly.
If you do contact them, let them know Acela sent you.

I just booked my DJ in the NYC area (I think he is actually based in NJ) and his base package was $1,400 for 4 hours of DJ MC service. The lowest I saw in my search was $1,200 for 4 hours. If you just get a DJ and no MC you may be able to cut it down.

At another bride’s recommendation, we hired Carol from A Starry Night, and I feel she was excellent – dance floor was packed with people of all ages. http://www.astarrynight.com/
She sends a nice info package to you with a demo DVD on request. She is on the high end of your budget but she is super professional and great.

Try DJ Gaza. He’s charging us 1200 for 7 hours of DJing, including travel expenses, whatever music we want that he doesn’t own, and set up (he’ll get there at 2pm for a 5pm arrival time).
Plus, so far he’s been a pleasure to work with.

I loved my DJ (colorblindn productions). He did my sister’s wedding and several other friends weddings and he’s great. I think he’s $1100 or so but he’s got other packaged with other options. What I loved was that he wasn’t over the top, mixed the music well and kept the party going. We had eclectic tastes, I’m a house music and 80’s fan and my husband is really into indie punk and then our family is Portuguese and he had it all playing together.
I heard dj gaza at a friends wedding. He was good too.

- Wedding: July 2018 - Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers
We had DJ Gaza for our wedding and got rave reviews across the board.
If you’re looking for a English/Chinese MC, I’ve worked with Kenny from SangAlong.

I used DJ Gaza’s partner, DJ Dirty Jean, and she was awesome! They charged me $1250 for the whole shebang, ceremony music, cocktail hour and the reception. I think she was there from 2pm to midnight. And they are AMAZING to work with! Dirty Jean really got everyone dancing and people could not stop raving about how great the music was.
