crisy003:  It’s super cute!! And what a nice, green lawn! Our house was a foreclosure that a flipper bought and sold to us. And the yard had been neglected (per the neighbors) for at least 10+ years. What a mess! We didn’t know that part of it becuase we bought it in the winter. Lol! Small towns are way cool! But I do like being very close to lots of yummy restaurants. My weakness.

SweetEmerald:  Oh my GOD! That would be at LEAST 750,000 here in Colorado! That is insane.

My fiancé has a 3 bed 2 bath single family house that he bought for $150,000. It’s in the outer suburbs of Kansas City. Where I’m from we could get the same house for considerably cheaper than that.

But that’s the Midwest for you.

thehappiestbridetobe:  Oh yeah but Colorado is so much prettier than Houston. Houston has alot of pine trees but that’s all the natural beauty they have aside from the waterfronts. We have lots of other draws here like a thriving arts and restaurant scene…

650k to 1.5 million depending on how “sketchy” you want the neighborhood. I’m in Toronto.

My Fiance and I just bought a 3BR/2B house (1800 sq. foot) in the suburbs of Houston (oil & gas country) for 210k. It’s in a ridiculously good neighborhood. It’s one of the smaller houses in the neighborhood (most of the houses are 300k-800k) but the amenities are great so it was worth it.

You can go 5 minutes north or 15 minutes south, however, and get a new 2500-3000 sq. foot for the same price but the area is not so great. It depends what matters to you. Space or quality of living. That’s Houston.

I live in a 4 BR 1 1/2 bath house in a safe neighborhood outside Baltimore. We paid $155,000 a little over 2 years ago. Cosmetically it needs some work (our kitchen is FUGLY and all the walls were wood paneling) but structurally it’s sound, major appliances are good to go, new-ish roof, etc etc. On 0.12 acres, so decent backyard and space for dogs to bounce around and DH’s veggie garden. Nanny nanny boo boo. 🙂 We got very lucky.

Of course, the schools are mediocre at best, there’s minimal decent public transportation, and everyone thinks we live in the middle of The Wire. But we’re CBC, prefer to drive places, and we know we’re safe.
