We are doing a photobooth ($795) and having M&M’s on the table for people to snack on. However, we are not doing any type of individual or take home favors. After a little research I decided they just weren’t worth the extra expense.

At one point though I had considered spending up to $4.00 per person with 140 guests invited.

Haha, call me cheap, but we’re on a tight budget and a lot of favours are things most ppl toss aside. I feel they are more visually pleasing than of practicality.

I spent $1.19 on a package of lindor chocolates (3 in a pkg). Bought them after xmas when they were discounted, originally $1.79. Since they are red they will look great with the decor on the tables (red and white) and if anyone doesn’t like chocolate i’ll happily eat theirs. In all I spent $89 on favours for 130 guests!

We also wanted favors that would be usable or memorable and possibly even eco-friendly. What we came up with were birdseed cakes, and we’re making them ourselves from a tutorial found here. We figure that everyone – city or country, apartment or house – can put the feeder out and watch the birds come around. They’ll come in paper bags stamped with our wedding monogram (we ordered a custom rubber stamp from Simon Stamp for around ten bucks). The total cost is under a dollar per person, even once we include the price of the paper bags, custom stamp, paper punches, etc.
