My daughters dress was $900 and the belt that was perfect for it was $500…and we got it!  Yes, we actually bought a $500 belt.  I okayed it in the euphoria and as soon as the deposit was down and the “no return” paperwork, my stomach started to churn.  On the plus side, it looked amazing on her and in photos and we sold it on Wedding Bee Classifieds for $400, but I still wish we had walked away and thought about it more.  Maybe you can find it pre owned if it’s a well known designer?

If you know anyone who does beading or have a local beading society, take some photos over and ask for a quote. The cost in beads is prob around $20. The rest is labour.

Amazon.  I LOVED my belt.  It was as good of quality as the ones I tried on in the bridal salon for $200+… I think it was like $30 on Amazon and it was PRIME.  So free shipping and easy returns if I didn’t like it.  Obviously—I kept it.   🙂

My belt was $135 and I almost choked, but I had fallen in love with it.  That being said, I think it matters more how it fits into your overall budget.  If your total attire budget is $1000, then yes that is a lot.  But if you have $5000 earmarked for your look the day of then I think that’s reasonable.

mrsnitti17 :  I vote keep looking for a better deal and give yourself a time frame (say 4 months), BUT if you dont find anything else you love, just go for it! You could wear the belt with other outfits for your anniversary in years to come to justify the purchase!

I agree that only you can decide! There are so many different budgets on here that for some it wouldn’t make sense, and for others it would.

I do think that since you’re asking, and concerned about it– it’s likely over the top. We all have our own things we want to splurge on for the day– I have a feeling this isn’t the splurge item for you.

Are you ok with doing a DIY belt? You can buy a crystal applique and stitch or iron it onto a ribbon of your choice.

I found something similar to yours in this Etsy shop. https://www.etsy.com/listing/386145518/sale-crystal-applique-diy-bride-belt?ref=shop_home_active_21

I actually ordered another applique from them, and the quality wasn’t bad at all. There are tons of other Etsy shops selling similar items.

I would scour etsy and amazon– I have found some great ones for around $50.

Also, maybe check the preowned wedding dress sites? I have seen a lot of designer brands sold on there.

I wouldn’t pay $450 for a belt that only covered a portion of the front of the dress.

I think mine was around $300 (Essense of Australia) but my dress was on clearance for $440 (floor model of discontinued style) so it was totally ok. For that price my belt was 360 degrees of sparkle at least and included beads, crystals and pearls and was thick at some points.

I would find something on Etsy or a cheaper belt because that’s nuts. I’d pay $450 for a Pnina with a lot more bling. I think you need to keep searching.

mrsnitti17 :  OMG I THINK I TRIED THAT SAME BELT! I was reading your post and thinking…yeah, I loved a belt that was that price…lol. It’s hard, I know, because that’s a great belt. But $475 was too hard to swallow

Better close up of all the detaililng on the belt (it was like that all the way around) . It wasn’t on a sash but on netting so it’s more of a belt that tappered off on the end and was sewn onto my dress and was meant to look like part of the original design.

I guess I am a cheap bastard. I paid for my belt $28 on Ebay and it is beautiful (to me).
