i would definitely do the welcome bags at the hotel- regardless of whether or not they arrive early, they aren’t going to want to lug that around with them all day and, even worse, some may leave them behind.

I’d wait to hand out the welcome bags later.  What’s in them?  If it’s a destination wedding, can you have the hotel hand them out?  Sounds like a fun wedding!  We had fan programs and they went over really well.

hmmm, unless you are married to the welcome bags, maybe you can forgo them as i believe their purpose is to make out of town guests’ overnight stays more comfy.

only give the bags to people staying at hotels, and leave them at the hotel before the wedding. i think most would get left behind/forgotten if you hand them out at the ceremony.

you can definitely forgo refreshments, just provide water or lemonade because it will be hot.

Like other bees said, I’d put the welcome bags at the hotel. The guests aren’t going to want something else to carry.

Can the birdseed be handed out as the guests exit the ceremony? And is it allowed at your venue? (It’s not at mine, they don’t want extra pigeons around.)

Fan programs will be great!

I would make sure to have COLD water available. I was at one wedding where there were trays of cucumber water and rasperberry water available for guests. As long as you’re serving food later (by noon or so) I don’t think you need to have food.
