Holy cow. I’m in New York City and I’ve seen it for way less than that! But maybe that’s because there are more makeup artists here than in Chicago, and therefore more competition drives the price down some.

I think it really depends on where you live and the skill level of the person doing your hair and makeup. We are paying $283 for mine and $108 for each of the girls. That includes a discount, them comming to us and also my hair and makeup trial, where they also come to me, so I think what you are being asked to pay seems very reasonable.

My daughter lives in Miami and that is a pretty expensive area. Her hair/makeup artist does TV and magazine work and she is not even that expensive. She is coming to our hotel room on the day of the wedding. The hair/makeup trial (airbrush makeup and individual lashes) was $125. On the day of the wedding, she charges $250. The BMs are $150 each.

That is pretty steep!  I’m in Milwaukee and have been seeing an average of $75-$100 for the bride’s hair, $60-$75 for BM’s hair and $60 for make up applications (although not airbrush).

I found this vendor who servers Milwaukee and Chicago – no travel fees.  Her work is beautiful and is half the price of the one you really like. Hopefully this helps!

That’s insanely expensive!  I think $250 TOTAL is more normal.  The bride should be the most expensive, everyone else (since they don’t require trial runs) are much much cheaper!

That is CRAZY expensive!!! I live in Los Angeles and am having a hairstylist do ym hair for $65 and a well known makeup artist who does makeup for celebrities and he is ONLY $125! And it includes airbrushing and eyelashes!

I really think it depends on your location, and the type of makeup desired (ie airbrushing).  I’m getting married in RI and I’m paying $160 for hair $150 for makeup, BM’s $140 Hair, $120 makeup.  I actually got a great deal by signing a contract in early 2010 for 2011, because they just raised their prices.

Whew. That’s high – I think the factors that come into play here are (1) Is she really that good? and (2) How important is the make-up to you? Of course, we all want to look good, but if you want a simple natural look, you can probably get that from someone else for less. If you wanted glam, air-brushing, etc, then it’s going to be more expensive.
