girl, i feel you. i thought the same thing! our original budget was 20k. then we started shopping around….now its 36k….which i keep hearing is average. you can obviously do things to keep it cheaper. you just have to really think about what is important to you on that day. do you have to have tons of flowers? do you have to have a live band? i definitely optedout of certain things to keep costs down but it still ended up being way more than we imagined.

brookeee16 :  I’m getting married in August, I thought I’d be able to pull this off for like $5k as we’re doing a courthouse wedding, then hosting a reception at a bar the following day for four hours.

-Courthouse fee: $350

-Dinner for witness after ceremony: $1000 is what we are budgeting for

-Venue: $1K rental fee

-Food & Bev min: $4K, but for 75 people our quote turned out to be about $7K

-Photographer: $1K

-Wedding dress/shoes: $300 or so, I’ve ordered several different dresses from Lulu’s to try on as I’m not doing an actual wedding dress

Wedding bands: $800 ish, haven’t bought them yet

Invites: $90

Hotel night of reception- $450

I’m sure other things will come up, so I’m thinking we will be around $12-13K when all is said and done. Definitely not what I thought originally, especially since we got engaged in April and decided to get married this August and we’re paying for this ourselves.

Hoping to not regret this lol

Our total was around $35-40k for 45 guests not including rings and such.  The total did included a welcome dinner and farewell brunch for everyone too.  I don’t know the exact total because towards the end of planning, I was tired of making decisions and said yes to everything the wedding planner suggested.  We have zero regrets because the day turned out exactly how we wanted it to.

brookeee16 :  Haven’t had my wedding yet but my friends who had, they estimate more or less around $30K. This is NOT including rings and honeymoon. For some reason, my married friends always exclude those items from their total budget/cost. Their weddings are all fairly similar-Catholic church wedding ceremony, around 125 guests, large wedding parties followed by a standard hotel reception with a 3-course plated meal (Sheraton, Marriot, Hilton, etc.) By the way, this is in southern CA.

Our wedding was $160K for 300 guests…not including honeymoon and rings.

No regrets, whatsoever. smile

About $500. Me and hubby plus our immediate family flew to Vegas for free.  Hotel, free.  $90 for dress, little chapel wedding and dinner for all $400ish.    Our honeymoon we spent abt 8k.

Our wedding is going to be about $120k for about 180 guests, not including rings and our minimoon and honeymoon. So far no regrets.

Looking like $40k for likely 250 people, not including rings or honeymoon. Rings would add another $2000ish.

Souzie :   bear123 :  So just like what I mentioned above about my friends, how come many people don’t include rings and honeymoon as part of the wedding cost/budget?

Our wedding will be ~10-15k for ~50-75 guests based on all the vendors we’ve found so far and what we’ve booked. It was surprisingly challenging to find budget friendly options but I’m overall happy with how it’s turning out! Our honeymoon will be 8-10k probably though.
