jackjackattck :  YEEEEEEEEEES exactly this! Extra “$500” here and “$1000” there add up REAL fast and snowballs into a completely different budget number lol. I have this fear that an attemp to scrape $$ ends up tainting the whole experience somehow – like DIY flowers gone bad (I’m not creative or handy), MUA looking horrible (although the quotes I’ve received so far seem ridiculous…$400 for just bride’s day-of makeup not including hair 0___0), bad photos because I wanted to save $1000 etc.

Anyway, I’m glad to hear that when it was all said and done, you felt no regret. That is encouraging 🙂

The only thing we booked so far is wedding planner (who is also an event designer and DOC) but we’re scheduled to put down the deposit for my venue next week. Scary scary scary!! money-mouth

faithschad :  Whoa! How did you manage to pay for venue/catering/decor etc on $250k, if rings alone were $230k + dress $35k? I would love to see your dress and rings! Sounds dreamy…

Ours is probably going to end up $5000 for 8 people (including FH & me), including rings but not including honeymoon. It’s all turned out to be way more expensive than I wanted it to, and we haven’t even splurged on anything, apart from food maybe (even so, that could easily have been more expensive.)

faithschad :  is there a reason your ring budget has such a huge sliding scale between your expected costs?

18k for 40 guests.  nearly 1/3 of our budget was photography though, we went high end on that and food+service, and then slightly cheaper than average to much cheaper than average on everything else, for the area.

I don’t regret it, I think we spent our money well.  I wouldn’t do it AGAIN, but for a one time party for us and all our loved ones it was worth it.

Oh man we budgeted £10k and it’s more like £19k. All the small shit is expensive and racked up costs soooo fast.

I have a tiny meltdown every now and again and try to see if I can find a cheaper venue or something but we are peak Scottish wedding season and we got a bargain (4K off) so it’s not happening 🤷‍♀️

Our budget was $50k, for ring, honeymoon and wedding. We’ve know upped it to max out at $100k. We adjusted our plan and we’re covering a bunch of expenses for people for our destination wedding and that was important to us.

We’re not having a wedding. We’re getting married at city hall, but our expenses, outfits, rings, photographer, honeymoon, totals about $24000-$26000.

Somehow, my budget of 15k-20k for 200 guests is still happy. That could change, but I feel like the worst is behind us! 15k is our baseline, but we’re flexible about several expenses for a 5k wiggle room. This does not include our honeymoon (which will likely be around 10k in and of itself).

It helped a lot that we found such a great price on our venue, which is a quaint countryside Victorian mansion (only $20 per plate but doesn’t include alcohol), and we are getting our wedding bands on Etsy for extra savings!

I know that we are incredibly lucky to live in small countryside town in Upstate New York though. Prices downstate are INSANE.

futuremrs2020 :

Where are you going to eat that dinner for one or two people would be $1000? Or by “witness” do you mean multiple are witnessing your wedding and that’s a nice dinner for a group?

snowbelles :  Yes, mulitiple people will be at the courthouse with us, and since they’re taking time off of work to watch us get married we figured it’d be nice to take them out after.

Just over 5k for 150 guests, not including rings, dress, or honeymoon. All in all, around 7-8k.
