$1050, which is almost exactly the average for my area, according to costofwedding.com.

$450 for unlimited time at our reception (we will use him from about 3p-midnight). He is providing all the equipment (mics, setup, lights).

@shaykitteh:  Got a name for your dj? I am trying to decide if I want one and the one you listed is cheaper then any I have talked to so far.

I know that you asked about a DJ… but we are hiring a local cover band.  They are charging us $1000 for 3 hours.

Wow, apparently mine is pretty expensive compared to all of yours! We’re paying $1,800 for ceremony music and reception. To my knowledge, he comes with 2 other guys to help out. He’s done all of my FI’s brother’s wedding and he is AWESOME.

Our DJ is $1000 for unlimited time, but we are just having him for the reception, approximately 6 pm-midnight. He charges an extra $200 for the ceremony, but I think we are doing live musicians for that instead so it might be a little more!

Ours is $625+tax and tips which covers cocktail hour, dinner and dancing (we didn’t need it for the ceremony). It was the venues recommended vendor so a bit cheaper than anyone else I could find because of that.

@MsPiggy:  This outta make you feel better. Mine is $2000! I am in New York, so I don’t think this price is unheard of. My best friend had the same DJ and he was great, so I knew I was getting what I wanted with him. If you feel confident in your choice, I don’t think whether it’s a good deal or not matters, as long as its within budget.

He’s a friend of the family and is going to do it for $200.  That includes him being there that morning for the rehearsal (we’re doing a rehearsal brunch the morning of the wedding) and the rest of the evening for ceremony and reception.
